This place was strange. Green foliage was about the only normal thing it recognized, and even that looked odd. It still sort of blended in with the short bladed plants on the plains it went over but felt... uncovered somehow. Wanting to feel more hidden it headed into a group of taller plants, towering overhead. The foliage here was much deeper and it could hide more successfully. Hunting prey should be easier here.

For some time it headed around, finding many odd animals, but none smelled like food. It did try a small furry creature, and though it was filling the taste was not good. Still, food was food. After a while though it came to a small clearing and saw something odd. It was long, smooth and had a plate on one end, supported up above it somehow. The end of the long thing was open, like a cave, showing it to have very thin and very even, round walls. The thing gave the slime an odd sensation, as if it wasn't real.

Slowly it approached, pressing to the smooth cool exterior. It didn't feel like food, but it smelled food. Not very appetizing food, but food none-the-less. It was firm, inflexible, and cold. Also the slime realized it could faintly see through the wall. It was grimy, but inside was something small and irregular. It looked like food. A dead insect maybe?

Moving around to the opening it saw the maybe-food thing inside and slowly pushed in, having to squeeze a little to slip inside. All of it had to draw in to reach the end of the long thing where the food was and it...

SNAP-Click!

The slime shifted, making a sensor head on it's rear side, and found the hanging disk thing had come down, sealing the end of the long thing shut! It was trapped!

Rattling and banging it tried to escape, but nothing worked, the walls were solid, and the disk on the end refused to even budge. There wasn't even a crack it could slip through!

After much rattling it gave up and ate the food thing.

It didn't taste good.
