The sky above Eagleton was dark and dismal. It was night, but with the fierce weather you couldn't even see any stars. Trees were buffeted by the stiff wind and currently a light drizzle pelted the buildings on the outskirts of the small town.
Then a scintillating corona of light emerged, fading in a few feet above a small hill. Arcs of lightning emerged, striking bushes and trees, starting a few fires which soon sputtered out in the rain. Then a blast of sound echoed across the plain, almost sounding like thunder as the corona of light abruptly imploded. Beneath it, as it vanished, a green discolored mass appeared, collapsing to the ground with a wet splat.
For a long time the green glob lay there as the storm roiled on. Strong winds, but only light rain, continued to tear over the hill and no-one seemed to have noticed the odd arrival here. As the storm slowly faded some slight movement game from the green blob, it twitching, shifting, before finally rearing up, a column of green transparent goo looking for all the world like a little head with no features, peering left to right as it tried to figure out where it was.
