Feeling it was finally safe to move, the slime started to move slowly and erratically, cautiously exploring the new alien environment, the different surfaces and how they were affected by the remaining rainwater, the unfamiliar amount of biodiversity and food it could detect, although in a way smaller size than it was used to. The movement never became more confident, the slime was still disoriented even after slowly engulfing a hapless pillbug and discovering it served as an acceptable morsel, nowhere near fulfilling but edible at least.
The slime continued on its erratic trail until something captivated its sense of smell and set it on a fixed direction. It was faint, barely discernable from the other earthy smells, but it was enthralling, and it was a scent that seemed to reach from above, unlike the insects, the grass or the dirt. The slime did its best to follow the trail of that alluring scent and travelled through more grass and dirt until it reached a small obstacle, a wooden fence it had no problem crossing, adapting its body to make it through the lower gap before continuing, motivated by the feel that the scent it was following was getting stronger.
The slime kept prowling on, recognizing scents belonging to other lifeforms that slightly spiked its natural curiosity, but that it couldn't distinguish as food, so were ignored as it kept tracking the source of that scent until it could pin down a specific place, approaching something that looked very different than anything else it had encountered so far, an imposing structure that looked like an amalgam of different shapes and textures beyond the green blob's comprehension, but the scent it was tracking was right there, within that structure.
Motivated, the slime dropped a bit of its caution as it surrounded the structure looking for an opening but not finding anything suitable. the only gaps found were way too small for the slime to pass through, somehow the structure enclosing such an alluring scent didn't have an entrance. Based on the hunting patterns it developed the slime considered its options, it could hide and wait for its prey to be exposed, but it would have to find a less satisfying source of food first. it could keep wandering in search for an entrance or other interesting sources of food in this alien world, or it could try to use its pheromones to entice the prey to show up, an uncommon tactic but everything about the structure seemed uncommon.
