You heard footsteps. That was weird, you didn't get the impression that they were waiting on anyone else, plus, your mom's friend group was pretty much these ladies. The only person that you could consider to be "missing" was Mayor Patricia, not only was she your mom's boss, she had been her teacher during her college years and the two became friends ever since. She had even been among your neighbors in your early childhood and her daughter was a friend of yours at the time as well...
Much to your surprise, these footsteps didn't correspond to just one person, it had to be at least two! And, while not wanting to be rude, you couldn't help but notice that it sounded like there was quite a bit of heft behind those footsteps, definitely about on par with Dolores. There weren't many women that you knew that were that big. Still, you didn't want to turn to look, lest you draw unwanted attention to yourself after you had seemingly blended in the background, though at random times someone did bring you back into the spotlight in the context of whatever they were talking at the time, but just as easily they appeared to tune you out.
"Morning" You shuddered. That voice was indeed Mayor Patricia's.
'What the hell?! What is she doing here?' You thought. You had nothing against her, at the end of the day she was just one more of your mom's friends after all, but like most of them, she knew you since you were a baby and had developed quite the familiarity with you, even after a few years of hiatus. Perhaps similarly to Sheila, she kinda saw you like a nephew if you tried to explain it, though as of late, she had been teasing you about your relationship with her daughter, hinting that she wants more, as if Brooke hadn't told you herself already...
"Look who I ran into at the airport!" She spoke as she and another woman walked into your visual range. You thought you couldn't be any more baffled today, yet Fate itself apparently took it as a challenge and decided to prove you wrong.
'Grandma Xóchitl?! Ok, seriously, what the hell is happening?' You thought, your eyes felt like they were just about to pop out of their sockets from how much surprise you were experiencing.
"What were you two doing at the airport though?" Miriam raised an eyebrow.
"You know, the usual. Clemente and his hunting trips" Xóchitl giggled "He said he was going to take a buddy to hunt alligators down in Florida so he could try their meat, plus the hunting experience and all that jazz"
"Little you knew that your hubby's buddy was none other than my dad" Patricia said with a hearty chuckle "My old man might be almost 70 but he still wants to act like he's in his 20's"
"I mean, almost 70 isn't that old. Besides, as long as one's soul feels young..." Xóchitl said. She might have felt a little sensitive about the age comment but didn't appear too bothered, then again she had a sense of humor very much like your mom's, if anything hers was even more boisterous, oddly fitting given her physique, being among the few women who could actually compete with Dolores on the 'big overall' department.
"True, true" Dolores laughed "Besides, you two have remarkable health! If that's what I'll look like when I get there, I won't complain"
"Well, what can I say? I'm told it must be our genetics. I think it was more us growing up in a jungle village, far from, you know, big cities and pollution and all that" Xóchitl replied, smiling at the compliment. Dolores was definitely right, if you took a look at your grandma standing next to her, you wouldn't be able to tell who looks older. It was truly remarkable that she easily looked 2 decades younger than her actual age.
Your grandpa was a tad more obvious, but even then you'd think he was in his 50's at most, and his active lifestyle, specially his love for hunting to harvest meat, and likely, eating mostly said hunted meat all helped keeping him relatively strong and not as beaten down by the relentless sands of time as most other people. Your mom's friends often jokingly expressed envy at the fact that it seemed to be pretty much a guarantee that not a single one of her hairs would ever turn gray, as both your grandparents still had a head full of black hair themselves. You hoped you got some of those genes too so you wouldn't have to worry about going bald later in your life.
You then snapped out of that thought, realizing that this was still extremely odd, were Mayor Patricia and grandma Xóchitl going to join the party, or did they just come by to say hello?
"Hmm? I didn't think we'd get special guests" Patricia said, looking in your direction. You quietly gulped, she was definitely looking at you and then began to walk towards you "I thought your mama would've been more protective of her baby" She said to you, giving you a playful wink. As much as it embarrassed you, she was most likely joking, or so you hoped.
"You really shouldn't be dangling fresh meat in front of so many hungry ladies" She said to Miriam in a mock-admonishing tone, weirdly enough to you, she gave a similar vibe to that of Lulu's, a playful teacher trying to act serious.
"Oh, I certainly agree" You heard Bertha say, but it sounded like nobody else noticed or if they did, they dismissed it as rolling along with the initial joke.
"C'mon, teach. Most of you are practically family to us!" Your mom giggled "Surely you don't think of poor little Blaise that way"
"I dunno about that, Miri... with the way Sheila's been eyeing him I would've hidden him from her already" Dolores chuckled and made Sheila blush a little, throwing her a mildly annoyed glare.
"The pot calling the kettle black!" Sheila replied with a silly smirk and sticking her tongue out at her older friend.
"What? I'm just happy Blaise decided to hang out with a bunch of old ladies instead of running off with their daughters" Dolores replied.
"Hey!" Almost every other woman present replied at the same time, getting flustered at how nonchalantly and singlehandedly Dolores threw them quite the burn, while she didn't care all that much about her age herself.
"Besides, I do feel a little neglected. Miriam keeps boasting about how lovely her son is with her, all the nice things he does for her..." She said, and the longing in her voice sounded pretty genuine "I helped the most to raise him, how come I don't get these mama benefits?"
Obviously, you were too young to remember to know first-hand, but according to your mom herself, Dolores, Sheila and even your grandmas, it was true that Dolores was the one who helped your mom when you were born. Being the first child she gave birth to, as Ariadne was adopted, she was quite nervous and worried about making mistakes that would leave lasting damage on you. Her friends were there to help her, and funnily enough all of them were on their second child.
Dolores herself had already raised her two into the toddler years and was the most experienced of the bunch. She had always been 'the big sister' to her other friends as well, so this didn't even look like that much of a stretch to them. You had seen plenty of pictures where she carried you with her as if you were her own.
"Fair enough" Miriam said "Besides, the reason he agreed to stay was precisely because of you!"
"Oh?" Dolores looked at you with newly lit up eyes. She looked very pleased to have heard that "Is that so?"
The other women threw at you looks that ranged between curiosity to envy, the only two exceptions being, predictably enough, your mom and your grandma themselves.
"Mom!" You groaned and covered your face in shame, hiding your blush. You were sure your face looked quite red as it felt much warmer than mere moments ago "Sheesh, way to throw me under the bus..." You groaned.
"I think she threw you under something a whole lot bigger than a bus" Sheila snickered, earning a narrowed-eyes look from Dolores.
"What? I was just telling the truth!" Miriam burst out laughing "I'm sorry, it's just that you're too adorable like that"
"I agree, and it makes me happy that you still have a spot in your heart for Mamá Lolita" Dolores said, affectionately wrapping her arm around your neck. You then happened to take a glance at the table and noticed that they were still eating burritos, having already nearly finished the first tray, which had been as full as it could get, and they had already downed their first bottles of beer, drinking their second.
"Anyway, I think I'll enjoy the sun for a bit, you know, while all this digests" Dolores said, playfully patting her noticeably large belly "Care to come along?" She said to you and with no way out of this, you shyly nodded and got up from your seat, walking behind her.
There were several towels laid near the pool and Dolores walked until she stood next to one of these. You wondered why she wanted you to come with her but then you saw a bottle of sunscreen in her hand. Apparently, she noticed you noticing, as she giggled playfully.
"Yeah, hun. I'm gonna need some sunscreen... Well... a lot of sunscreen, there's quite a lot to cover after all" She said, pouring some on her hand to apply on the front of her body, mostly her chest, neck, arms and belly "Can you do my back, sweetie? Miriam says you give her a really nice massage when you do hers"
You gulped nervously and once again nodded, fearing that you'd choke on your words if you tried to speak.
"Thank you, you are a real sweetheart!" Dolores said as she laid down on the towel after handing you the bottle.
"Don't be afraid to use as much as you need, I know there is a lot to work on" She said, giving her huge booty a playful wiggle. The way those massive cheeks jiggled and rippled was rather hypnotic but you tried your best to snap out of it before she noticed you were staring.
Resigned to your fate, you poured some sunscreen on your hand and began applying it to her back, knowing that eventually you would have to deal with the enormous challenge that her 90 inch booty would present, shuddering as you were already picturing it in your head...
