After taking a deep breath and reorganizing in your mind the jumbled mess you called thoughts, you began to tell both girls the part of the story they didn't know, about Valentina, as they were well aware of Toxic Lily's hatred towards you, which Lillian felt somewhat guilty for. How you had once been friends, but then she confessed to having feelings for you way back in 5th grade, and how you turned her down and that caused things to slowly but steadily spiral out of control.
"I always wondered why she suddenly stopped hanging out with us back then" Lillian commented.
You then told them how she would always bully you, verbally and physically, always making sure to leave no witnesses and with her lack of a reputation for such things, it was extremely unlikely anyone would believe you, plus, the idea of a guy getting bullied by a girl was laughable to most even in this day and age. Your only hope was trying to go to her mom to solve this, but that fell flat too, for she refused, saying that it was your duty alone to sort out your affairs, and that you needed to toughen up.
"I think she's right, if this is bad, I probably would've been way worse a couple generations ago. I dunno when I became this pathetic but what I know for sure is that I need to stop it" You then said, but both Jen and Lillian frowned and briefly looked into each other's eyes, though they refrained from speaking to let you continue.
You then told them how the intensity of Valentina's abuse skyrocketed starting highschool, and how she'd steal things of yours, rob you of your money or be even more callous and vicious with her physical abuse, with the scratch marks from her nails on your face serving as a solid proof and a reminder of its veracity.
"Okay, enough... I'm gonna stop you right there because if I hear any more of this I swear I'm gonna crack her skull" Jen said with a surprisingly fiery tone, and even though her anger wasn't directed at you, there was a sort of fire in her eyes that made you flinch nonetheless.
"Yeah, we get it" Lillian said "I wish you told us about this instead of having to find out by ourselves... but I can understand why you didn't"
You sighed in relief "That's good... guess I don't have to worry about you guys doing anything until I can figure a way to solve this"
"I said I understand why you didn't... not that I agree with it" Lillian huffed, crossing her arms "With what you've told us and the evidence there is, we have everything to deal with her for good"
"But the whole point is that I need to solve these issues on my own!" Despite your still somewhat tired state, a hint of anger, or more like annoyance, showed in your voice and your eyes.
"I'm tired of being the worthless idiot who can't save himself! I need to solve this myself, I'll only be even more garbage than I already am if you guys keep fighting my battles"
Jen then caressed your head again, hugging you a bit tighter to her chest "Blaise, we know for a fact that you're smarter than this, please... Valentina and her mom have brainwashed you with their nonsense"
Her hug reminded you that all this time you've been pressed right against her generously sized assets, making you lose your focus and blush intensely, your thoughts getting scrambled as surges of tingly nerve impulses and hormones nearly overwhelmed your consciousness.
"Why did you even believe them? I can't believe I have to say this to you out loud but you're NOT worthless!" Lillian said, and her voice sounded like it cracked a bit "You think you'd have the friends you have if you didn't have a single good quality in you?"
"I mean, I'm not exactly popular" You replied, and both girls groaned, but Lillian seemed to be the one who took the most offense or was more angered in general.
"If you weren't beaten this badly I think I'd slap you" She sighed "Popularity means jack especially when it matters the most"
"What she's trying to say is that all those people who follow the popular ones don't really care about the person" Jen said, trying to smooth things over "The friends you have genuinely care about you, you can be sure of that" She said as she kept caressing your hair, her hand gradually lowering itself to the back of your neck, which she gently scratched, almost like one would do to a cat.
You were caught off guard as a powerful series of tingly waves surged from the back of your neck and traveled across pretty much every nerve in your body, branching off as they went farther away, giving you goosebumps again while making you feel extremely relaxed. Your annoyance at Lillian almost literally melted away and it was replaced by an odd sense of safety.
"I think that the main issue here was that none of us really complimented you about it, but it wasn't out of malice or anything like that, we simply assumed that you knew" Jen explained "Come on, you've got to know yourself that you're fun to be around... Numbers aside, you're pretty smart too! I've learned so many things about so many different topics just by talking to you. Plus, you always try to be selfless and do the right thing even if it's difficult. Even now, I can tell that you didn't want us to get involved to spare us from the trouble, because you don't think you can win and you prefer to suffer alone than dragging others along"
Both Lillian and yourself were surprised at Jen, who giggled at seeing the expression on your face "Also, have you forgotten all the times you've defended us? Lillian has told me that you got into fights with any guys that made fun of her even if you were outnumbered... I can't say it was the best way to go about it, but in a way it was still sweet" Jen hugged you a little more tightly then "There was also that time you fought the captain of the football team because he kept hitting on me and wouldn't take a hint... To be honest I was pretty mad at you because you ended up fighting half of the team and got beaten badly even if you technically won, but I know that you just wanted to make sure he wouldn't bother me again"
You looked away in shame. All of these good things you were being told, it felt wrong on a fundamental level, it felt like you didn't deserve any of this, it felt like if someone robbed food from someone who desperately needed it and gave it to you. Something deep in your heart was firmly rejecting all these things, but your conscious mind had been made aware of them regardless. Jen's eyes looked like she sensed the growing conflict inside you and gave you a soothing, sympathetic look.
"Blaise, the reason Lillian and I protect you is not because you're useless, we protect you because we know you can't really fight back if it's a girl attacking you... I honestly thought that was clear since day one but I guess we should have told you at some point, kinda like we're doing now" She laughed a little "You could say we all need to learn to communicate a bit better"
Even if you really wanted to disagree, you knew you couldn't, at times like this, it felt like being open minded and logical was more of a curse rather than a blessing, for you were unable to keep defending an opinion or belief that you yourself knew was wrong, and in some way, you felt a twinge of envy for those could die alone on a hill, despite having everything against them.
'But maybe they're right. Have I been brainwashed for real? I didn't think that could happen in real life like this' You thought.
"So... we good now?" Jen asked cutely, and the sheer sweetness in those beautiful hazel eyes was simply impossible to resist. You nodded shyly, feeling as if an enormous weight had been lifted off your shoulders, but now you felt wrong without having it anymore.
"How about we walk you home and take care of you until your mom arrives?" Lillian asked "We won't tell her but you should when you feel ready. Tomorrow will be Saturday and we can discuss how we're going to get out of this mess together then"
"That's... alright, I guess" You said hesitantly. Jen smiled but Lillian rolled her eyes, still bothered at your reluctance.
"Can you stand up?" Jen asked softly and you nodded. She finally let go of her hug and stood up, offering you her hand to help you up. You gulped but took it anyway, feeling once again a lot of warm tingles, this time radiating off from your hand, surging their way up your arm and then going up and down your spine. It wasn't the first time you'd grabbed a girl's hand, considering all the female friends you have, but it being Jen's made it feel different.
You then turned around to face Lillian, as you hadn't been able to look at her this entire time and much to your surprise, she caught you with a bear hug of her own, her soft belly pressing against your stomach but its softness was comforting. This hug somehow felt warmer than all the others she'd given you in the past.
"You dork! Don't you dare to scare us like this ever again!" She pouted, and hugged you in silence for a minute or two before she slowly let go of you, but then she put one of your arms across the back of her neck and wrapping one of her own around your waist "Let's go"
"Lillian, this isn't necessary" You said, blushing again.
"Like hell it is! I'm n-We're not gonna have you faint on the way home" Lillian said, but she knew what you were most likely getting at and she giggled "You're even lighter than I am, don't worry about it" She said in a sweeter tone. Just then, Jen walked to you and did the same as Lillian with your other arm.
"You should know you can count on us whenever" She said "And you kinda owe her for this stunt, if I were you I'd do as she says"
You smiled awkwardly and nodded slowly, then the three of you began to walk, heading towards your home. Fortunately for you, the few people outside weren't even looking at you, any worries of making a scene slowly vanished. However, a few minutes later, you felt your heart skipping several beats and stopped in your tracks.
"Huh? What's wrong?" Jen asked.
"G-Girls" You said breathlessly, you felt as if all the strength you had got suddenly drained off you "Call my mom" Those were the last words before you suddenly lost consciousness...
