Celeste took a deep breath to calm herself down.
'This is neither Jen nor Lillian... what am I afraid of?' She thought to herself.
Veronica might have been older, but physically they were about the same size. If push came to shove, she should stand a fair chance, though she knew Veronica was pretty good at P.E whereas she herself was one of the worst.
"I have no idea what you're talking about, but there's no way I could kill Blaise even if I wanted" She said, gesturing at the difference in heights between you (formerly) and her. Veronica's eyes narrowed.
"So you're gonna still try to pretend I didn't see anything?" The redhead dryly asked. Celeste's heart skipped a beat, she could swear she could see the anger in those bright green eyes, but she needed to keep up her tough looking front, as best as she could manage.
"I dunno, what did you see?" Celeste cynically asked, still clinging onto the hope that she might spin this all as nonsense and get away with her planned crime, though, now there was the possibility that Veronica could warn Lillian, so, maybe she'd need to choose a different 'executioner' for her planned punishment.
"Are you gonna make me say it?" Veronica growled, then she glared intensely into Celeste's eyes.
"I saw what you did. I don't know how, but you made him very small..."
"Do you realize HOW crazy that sounds?"
"I SAW IT WITH MY OWN TWO EYES!" Veronica yelled, she was losing the ability to hold her anger back, she knew what Celeste was aiming at, and she wasn't going to let it work, she wasn't about to let her gaslight her.
After recovering from her embarrassing first attempt and putting her thoughts in order, and analyzing her own feelings, she had finally made a decision, she wanted to ask Blaise out regardless of what happened before. She was still pretty shy about it, and had observed him to make sure he was the kind guy she was falling in love with, but then, on the day she was going ask him out for a second time, she saw his cousin lure him away somewhere suspicious, right before class started. Something in her gut told her to follow and watch, she had a bad feeling.
When she saw her spray him in the face with something, she first thought it had been a prank, but when he fell, knocked out, her heart froze for a moment. Then it beat erratically as she saw him shrink until he became the size of an ant, or smaller. Her hands and legs trembled, Celeste was more perverse than she imagined, but then, when she heard her rant about Lillian and how she intended to dispose of him, she felt sick, more sick than she ever recalled feeling before.
But also, it was the last straw, it made her snap. She felt full of regret for not stopping her earlier, she felt she had been in the position to save Blaise, only for her to blow that precious chance because of her own hesitation. She wasn't going to hesitate anymore. She knew what was at stake, and she was going to save him even if it was the last thing she did. Her heart burned, both with passion and fury.
Celeste stepped back, startled by her yelling, but she quickly regained her composure, or what composure she had left. Trying to pretend the shrinking didn't happen wasn't going to work. This was going to get rough, she didn't want this outcome, but she wasn't going to back down either. She laughed quietly at the sheer absurdity of the whole situation.
"Fine, fine... I guess you win... you were right..." She held her left hand out to Veronica's face and slowly opened it. Her eyes widened in surprise and shock when she saw you on Celeste's palm. Almost instinctively, she reached for you, her sole focus being to rescue you... but that was precisely what Celeste had been betting on, with her opponent distracted, she used her free hand to throw a punch to her face that she never saw coming. Both Veronica and you were shocked, and before you could say anything, Celeste's fist closed upon you again.
Veronica reeled from that hit, but fortunately, Celeste was so weak that even landing a square punch to her face like that, it didn't do much more than a slap. But, even if physically it hadn't done much, such a treacherous attack only added fuel to Veronica's burning anger, who now realized the fight had just begun. Wordlessly, she lunged at Celeste with unprecedented fury, the latter only barely dodged a pierce punch that otherwise would've connected with her jaw. Her heart skipped a few beats, she could tell one of those, or a few at most, could knock her out cold.
Celeste backed away, keeping some distance between her and the angered redhead, who once again charged at her. Using her only free hand, Celeste slapped her, but she didn't flinch, and Veronica threw a punch to her stomach that she was unable to dodge. Pain quickly surged as mad electric shocks all across her body, she had sorely underestimated her opponent's strength. Driven by sheer adrenaline, Celeste retaliated by hitting Veronica in the stomach with her knee, then punching her again in the face with her only free hand. She realized that by holding you, she was handicapping herself, but no matter what, she wasn't going to let go of you.
Celeste's hits didn't hurt Veronica much, they only served to make her angrier, which she soon found out. She furiously threw several punches at her, and Celeste was forced to block them with the only arm she could use, leaving her unable to counter-attack. Thinking fast, she extended her left arm and slowly opened her fist, as if she were to drop you to the floor. Veronica's eyes widened, and she gasped in panic, granting Celeste the distraction she wanted. She shoved her with her right arm and tried to poke her eyes with her fingers, but Veronica leant back, avoiding that attack, though one couldn't tell if it was by sheer reflex or a conscious dodge.
Meanwhile, you were surprised Veronica was going through such lengths to help you. You wondered what that meant in relation to her feelings about you. Had she finally decided to stop avoiding you? What was going to happen, after she asked you out the first time but left without an answer? You honestly had no idea, but all you could do now was to pray for her to beat Celeste and rescue you from the terrible fate she had planned for you.
The two girls kept on fighting with increasing ferocity, Celeste didn't know anything about fighting, but she'd use whatever dirty trick she could if it meant she'd get rid of Veronica, who, while not a fighter either, at least seemed to know the basics, and was in better shape to pull off proper attacks and dodges. As the minutes passed, Veronica was hardly hurt at all, the most Celeste could accomplish was to make her bleed a little out of the corner of her lips, but Celeste herself was taking quite the beating, every punch and kick of hers that connected left bruises, and she could tell soon many of those spots would swell.
Celeste was breathing heavily, she was outmatched, even though she had made it look like they were more or less evenly matched. If more damage kept piling up, she'd end up getting knocked out for sure. She desperately needed to turn this around, she needed one decisive hit to knock Veronica out cold, before the lights went out for her.
Veronica threw a punch that narrowly missed Celeste's face, and she countered by trying to grab her face and dig her nails into it. Something you never noticed up until now was that neither Veronica, Lillian nor Jen seemed fond of having long fingernails, or even toenails, though in Veronica's case, you couldn't tell for sure. In Jen's case, ir probably made sense because how sporty she was, but in Lillian's, you weren't sure, then again, she wasn't the girliest girl around. But Celeste, she did grow her fingernails out at least, but it had never been anything worth of note until now. You were also surprised Celeste was holding her own against her, but you knew she was getting winded, as you could feel her quickened pulse, and hear her rapid, heavy breathing.
Veronica caught Celeste's wrist and firmly gripped it, squeezing it, causing her a large amount of pain. She tried to pull her arm free, but Veronica was slightly heavier and her grip stronger, so she was unable to. Celeste then tried the next thing that came to mind, which was a feigned punch with her left fist. The redhead's eyes widened, remembering that it was the fist you were held in. She hesitated, as blocking that attack risked hurting you. Celeste used that brief time window to literally push forward and knock Veronica down, but as she kept holding onto her wrist, she took her down along with herself, and the two girls fell to the floor with a pair of painful 'thuds!'. While on the floor, they tried kicking each other, with Celeste missing hers, and Veronica landing a few to her stomach and chest. They then rolled away from each other and stood up once more.
"All of this... *pant* ... for some boy... *pant* ... you don't even know..." Celeste said, her vision going dark in pulses for a moment, as her blood oxygen was getting a bit low, and suddenly getting up added to that effect.
"I know him, and it's none of your business..." Veronica replied and cautiously walked towards her again. She figured Celeste was close to knocking out, so if she pushed just a little more, she'd be able to get you.
Celeste clenched her teeth. She hadn't been able to land that one decisive blow she meant. Her strength was fading, her body ached and began feeling numb, soon, it would stop responding her. But she needed to beat this girl if it was the last thing she did, thus, she charged at her in a seemingly blind rage, betting everything in one last hit. Veronica saw this and responded in kind, she was going to deal the final blow here and now.
Thus, both girls charged at each other, and there was a rather loud noise, corresponding to a punch that hit someone's head square. The question being, who won?
'This is neither Jen nor Lillian... what am I afraid of?' She thought to herself.
