It was indeed the first day of summer vacation but you had no explicit plans as of yet. You were a bit surprised because you were sure that Ariadne was coming, not wanting to miss a single day of summer break with the family but then again she might have already arrived and left, since her friends would also be in the city though you only were aware of Jordana, her bestie.
You had enough friends that you could surely text any of them and someone should be up for hanging out, it'd be a bit odd if Lillian, Jen, Cindy, Zuemy, Yamile, Jim and Pete all suddenly chose not to but on the other hand maybe it was best to chill at home?
Before making any decisions, you put on a shirt and jeans. Unlike your mom and sister, you didn't like to walk around the house in just underwear and to be fair, you also felt embarrassed if any of them saw you shirtless, with your mom immediately going for a hug while your sis sometimes complimented the modest musculature you had, most of which came from working out with her.
You left your bedroom and headed downstairs, finding no one. Your parents must've already left for work or for some errand like grocery shopping and there was no sign of Ariadne's presence either. With this being a surprisingly common occurrence, you shrugged and headed for the kitchen, grabbing some food for a nice breakfast. You went for scrambled eggs, as that was a dish you liked quite a bit and it kept you fed for a long time...
About half an hour later, you'd finished your breakfast and washed it down with some nice, cold chocolate milk. Then you took the plate and the glass to the sink to wash them and once that was done, you went back to your room where you turned your PC on. There were a bunch of games that you could still play and now seemed like a good chance to do so without being interrupted. Or you could browse the Internet for memes and stuff, that was an option as well.
Meanwhile, from somewhere unknown, a certain presence observed you with amusement. Two iridescent eyes shone amidst the darkness, lighting up as you turned your computer on.
"Let's make it interesting, shall we?" A myserious voice that without a doubt belonged to the same entity spoke. Some mischievous giggling could be heard but it was hard to ascertain if it belonged to this one alone or if there were more. A single fnger snap was heard, echoing around the darkness.
If it were only by yourself and friends like Jim and Pete, your gaming collection would probably be limited to strategy games like Age of Empires and Europa Universalis, a bunch of fighting games, some platformers in the style of Megaman X and a few RPGs, though one of these had become your favorite game since its launch: Courageous Borderland. With it being an online game, there were always new missions and content to do but on the other hand, there was no rush to play that precisely right now since the in-game reset happened until 3 AM.
But it was thanks to Cindy that your horizons expanded greatly and you got to know many more great games that you wouldn't have played otherwise. One of these seemed a bit odd: Doki Doki Literature Club, a Visual Novel that seemed to be a dating sim, a genre that Cindy herself enjoyed quite a lot but you didn't think it was the game for you. However she promised you that you'd get plenty of surprises playing it and surely you did. You had recently gotten to what seemed to be the True Ending of the game but you weren't sure, it wouldn't hurt to double check, would it?
You could always hop on the fighting games you always loved though, there was plenty of people online to spar with but, were you really aching for that much action this early? Decisions, decisions.
Another thing you could do is boot up emulators, you had many in your collection along with older games from the time of your parents and further back, many of which you enjoyed in your childhood.
Thinking back to Cindy, there were more games that your friends recommended you to try. Lillian told you of this game called Eight Marbles, you had yet to play it but were a bit curious why she was so fond of it. Zuemy herself had even sent you various full games, many of which revolved around shrinking, which was no surprise, knowing her.
Then again, you could still just browse the Internet, watch some videos, check for new memes, listen to music or even try something else like writing. You'd been told by Lulu that you were quite proficient at it and maybe you could come up with some cool story, hell, maybe even write a whole book!
Your mom has always told you that on her side of the family there is quite the strong affinity for the arts, though apparently those genes came at the expense at having a complete inability to deal with Math and its abstract concepts, your mom herself was pretty good at drawing, making voices, writing and taking pictures and your Aunt Betty seemed to have some nice skills at filmmaking, writing theatrical scripts and also taking pictures. Not even your father's blood was able to improve that issue, and this is a man so good with numbers that he gets called 'Pythagoras' at work.
Soon, you heard your computer making a sound that indicated it had finished booting up and it was ready. In the end, what do you decide to do?
