Before Max even saw the woman behind him, a familiar jangle of cheap metal and plastic beads announced her arrival. He only knew one person who wore this much audibly-clacky jewelry, and she wasn’t exactly the first person he’d hope to run into on a day like today: his Aunt (well, technically, step-aunt) Fanny. When he turned around, for better or worse, his suspicions were confirmed.

At five-foot-three, she wasn’t tall, but the sheer volume of her made the whole space feel smaller as she stepped through the doorway. Three hundred and fifty pounds of pure, sun-baked Mexican-American curves, all crammed into a black crop top that looked like it was one deep breath away from surrender. Her boobs were basically beach balls, the hem of her shirt riding up so high her belly was out there for everyone to see—soft, round, and begging to be used as a pillow after a night of bad decisions. Below that, red flare jeans clung for dear life to hips wide enough to park a full-sized mattress and an ass so big it could have doubled as a sleeping bag for two. Every step made the seams whine. She was decked out in layers of homemade earrings, chunky rings, and enough beaded necklaces to start her own Etsy shop, all clattering and jangling like a one-woman parade. Her hair was piled up in a messy bun, black as ash, with a few rebellious strands framing a face that somehow still managed to smolder, even with the dark circles under her eyes and lips that only bothered with a swipe of gloss. Her skin was the color of caramel and looked like it had seen more parties than sleep.

She looked older than thirty-nine. She also looked like she could crush a car door with one cheek and still make you thank her for it.

“Maxie? Baby nephew? You hiding in here?” Her voice was pure chaos—husky from too many late nights, loud enough to fill the room without trying. She scanned the common area, oversized purse slung over one shoulder, the strap digging into the soft meat of her upper arm. “I already checked your room… cute roomie, by the way…”

Max’s heart hammered against his ribs. Despite the panic, deep down he felt a kind of shaky relief; ironically, Fanny was the only family member he’d missed. In stark contrast to his smothering stepmom, bratty stepsister and know-it-all abuela, she’d never treated him like a project to be fixed or a punching bag to be sat on—well, not on purpose, anyway. She’d always been Team Max, one hundred percent. The aunt who took him to the movies whenever she visited, who let him rant for hours about Victoria’s endless hovering and Izzy’s daily humiliations while she painted her nails some ridiculous color and nodded along like it was the most important conversation in the world. She never smothered him with advice or comparisons. She just listened, laughed in all the right places, and somehow made the mess of his home life feel survivable. Now, panic and hope warred inside him.

But that was back when he was regular-sized. Now? Everything was off. He was three inches tall, naked, and staring up at a woman whose ass had already turned him into a human seat cushion more times than he wanted to remember. Elevator rides where she’d backed up and parked it right on him, hallway squeezes where her hips pinned him flat, that one backseat car ride where she’d dropped down and nearly smothered him under a denim-clad cheek while cackling about her latest loser boyfriend. She always felt bad after, scooping him up and drowning him in lipstick kisses, but his dignity never recovered. Now the humiliation was baked in, prickling under his skin, and every nerve was on high alert. He felt naked in every possible way.

And now every one of those “accidents” was about to get a whole lot more permanent.

Fanny kicked the door shut behind her with one pump, the motion sending her whole body into a slow, rolling jiggle. A faint scent rolled across the table ahead of her—something sweet and cheap, like cheap perfume mixed with the faint leftover tang of cigarette smoke and the greasy aroma of drive-thru tacos she’d probably eaten on the road. Underneath it all was the warm, lived-in smell of a woman who’d been behind the wheel for at least one full hour of LA traffic: skin, sweat, and that unmistakable earthy musk that came with curves this size.

Her eyes finally dropped to the coffee table.

They widened. The dark circles under them crinkled as her full lips parted in genuine shock.

“¿Qué carajo…?” The words slipped out in a stunned whisper, then her voice climbed. “Max? Holy shit, Maxie, is that you?”

She took two quick steps forward, pumps thudding hard enough to make the table tremble. Up close, she was even more overwhelming. Her belly loomed over him like a sun-warmed hill, skin shiny from the drive. Her boobs hung heavy above it, the crop top stretched so thin he could see the outline of her nipples poking through. Her necklaces dangled and swung, one of them almost smacking the table right in front of him.

Max instinctively tried to cover himself with both hands, cheeks burning. “H-hey, Fanny—yeah, it’s me. I… I don’t know what happened.”

She crouched down fast, her knees popping softly as she bent until her face was level with the table. Her warm brown eyes widened, glittering with horror, confusion, and that same chaotic affection he remembered. From this close, he saw faint lines at the corners of her eyes and how her messy bun drifted to one side. The scent of her perfume, tacos, and faint salty sweat filled the space between them, all reminders that he was undeniably, inescapably small.

“Jesus Christ, look at you,” she breathed. One thick, ring-covered finger hovered near him, not quite touching, close enough that he felt the warmth radiating off it. “Three inches tall and buck-ass naked on a coffee table. You look like a goddamn action figure, mijo. What the hell did you get into last night?”

Max swallowed hard. “I went to a party. I think. Everything after that is… fuzzy.”

“You? My Maxie? At a party?” Fanny let out a low, raspy laugh. “Damn, college really is changing you.” She shook her head, earrings clinking. “Damn. Good thing I found you before anyone else did.”

Fanny straightened just slightly from her crouch, staying low. Max tried not to stare at her massive chest, but from his low vantage point, it was unavoidable. “Yeah,” he said, unsure how much comfort to take in that thought.

Fanny’s expression softened. The dark bags under her eyes made her look tired, but the warmth in her gaze was the same one she’d always given him when he’d shown up at her tiny apartment after another blowout with Victoria. “Hey. Breathe, baby. Aunt Fanny’s got you. You know that, right?”

He nodded, throat tight. “I know. I just… I don’t know how this happened.”

Fanny’s thick eyebrows drew together, the chunky rings on her fingers catching the light as she rested one hand on the table’s edge. “Well, mijo. Do you know what shrinking serum is?”

Max stared up at her, the question landing like a cold splash. “Shrinking… serum? No. So, someone dosed me with that?”

“Yeah.” She exhaled slowly, the sound carrying the weight of someone who had just realized she was about to drop a bomb. The warm brown eyes that had always sparkled with reckless humor now held something gentler, almost careful. She leaned in a fraction more, her bare belly brushing the table again, that soft pillow of skin radiating heat like a living furnace. When she spoke, her voice shifted into the exact tone she used to pull out years ago—back when he’d shuffle into her cramped LA apartment after another high-school girl had shot him down, all quiet encouragement wrapped in that husky, cigarette-and-laughter rasp. “Alright, baby. Deep breath. This isn’t gonna be easy, but I’m not gonna sugarcoat it either. The thing about shrinking serum is… It’s permanent.”

The words hit him in layers.

“No,” Max muttered. “No way. That can’t be real. There has to be some kind of antidote or treatment or—or something. People don’t just stay like this. I’ll call a hospital, or maybe Victoria knows someone… Maybe if we track down whoever gave it to me… or if one of your old friends knows a guy who knows a guy… there’s gotta be a way to undo it.”

Fanny sighed, her expression never wavering from that steady, big-sister warmth. “I’m really sorry, Maxie.” She rubbed the back of her neck with one hand, the clunky bracelets sliding along her wrist. “Look, I’m not gonna pretend this isn’t a total shitshow. But you’re not alone. Believe it or not, I actually know way more about this serum crap than I probably should. One of my exes was into some seriously kinky stuff, and he ended up dosing himself with it on our second anniversary. I ended up taking care of him for a couple of months after that, so I’ve seen every possible way a guy your new size can end up tucked away on a woman’s body. Learned more than I ever wanted to about the logistics, that’s for damn sure.”

She caught herself, cheeks flushing just a touch under the tan. A sheepish grin cracked across her full lips. “Aaaand now I’m oversharing again. Classic Fanny. Sorry, Maxie. I know that’s probably way too much information for my cute lil’ nephew. You’ve heard enough of my disaster dating stories to last a lifetime, huh?”

Max let out a weak, involuntary snort despite everything, the familiar rhythm of her chaos cutting through the grief like it always had.

Fanny leaned in even closer, her bare belly pressing against the table, soft and warm and way too close for comfort. As she shifted, her stomach let out a low, hungry rumble, probably from the tacos and the drive. She winced, glancing down like she could scold her own gut into behaving.

BBRRRRRRTTTTTTT

Before Max could even blink, a low, bassy fart rumbled out from behind her, thick and eggy and absolutely shameless. The kind of fart you only get from a diet of drive-thru tacos and not caring what anyone thinks. The smell hit him a second later, greasy and hot and so personal it felt like a slap.

“Ugh. Sorry.” Fanny waved a hand behind herself half-heartedly, laughing. “Long drive, bad decisions. You remember how it is with me.”

Max coughed, eyes watering, but he couldn’t help the tiny, hysterical laugh that escaped. Even at three inches tall, even after everything, Fanny was still Fanny—zero filter, all heart.

She grinned, her whole face lighting up with that lazy, dangerous charm. “See? That’s my boy. Still got that nervous little laugh.” Her hand came down, slow and careful, fingers bigger than his whole body. Her palm was warm and a little damp from the drive, the skin soft and padded like a heated mattress. She scooped him up with a gentleness that didn’t match the size of her hands or the mountain of rings. Max sank into her palm, feeling every groove and line, and she lifted him up toward the deep, sweaty canyon between her boobs. The crop top looked like it was about to give up, and he could see the shine of sweat in her cleavage up close.

“Listen,” she said, voice dropping to a conspiratorial hush as she held him level with her face. Her breath smelled faintly of mint gum and soda. “I know this is a lot. But I am here, and I’m not leaving you on some random table like a lost sock. You’re coming with me.”

Max’s voice came out smaller than he meant it to. “Where… where are you even taking me?”

Fanny’s grin widened, the kind of reckless, ride-or-die smile that had gotten her through six divorces and countless bad decisions. “My place in LA, at least until I can track down your stepmom and figure out what the hell the rest of the family wants to do with all this. Unless you’ve got some genius hiding spot or a better idea, baby. But you sure as hell can’t stay parked on this common-room table like yesterday’s takeout. So…” She gave a playful little bounce on her heels that sent her whole body into a gentle ripple. “Where do you wanna ride, huh? Your call.”

Max hesitated, the question feeling absurdly intimate given his current state. “Your hand? It’s… It’s safer than the floor, I guess.”

She let out a low, throaty chuckle that vibrated through her palm. “Hand’s cute. Safe. Boring, though. There are way more secure spots I could tuck you into if you’re feeling adventurous. Plenty of real estate on me that won’t let you slip away.” Her free hand patted the upper swell of one breast for emphasis, the chunky necklaces swaying. “But hey—no pressure. Hand it is for now, if that’s what you want.”

Max’s face burned, but the panic that had been gnawing at him since he woke up eased, just a fraction. Fanny wasn’t fixing him. She wasn’t pitying him. She was just… there. Chaotic, massive, loud, and one hundred percent on his side.

“Alright, favorite nephew,” she murmured, standing up slowly. The motion lifted him with her, the world tilting as her belly shifted and her ass settled heavily into the red jeans. Every step she took sent a gentle, rolling quake through her midsection. Her pumps clicked across the floor, hips swaying wide enough to brush the doorframe on the way out. “Let’s get you out of here.”
