Scanning the common room, Izzy grinned. True to everything Bea had promised, the place looked like a Victorian haunted house redecorated by someone with a serious goth fetish. Dark wood paneling climbed the walls, broken up by heavy purple velvet curtains. Flickering LED candles glowed in wrought-iron sconces. A massive black leather sectional took up one corner, currently occupied by three girls in various states of undress—fishnets, band tees, and enough eyeliner to supply a small army. Low, thumping music drifted from hidden speakers. It was a mix of distorted guitars and a driving beat that vibrated up through the floorboards. The air carried faint traces of incense and weed, mixed with something sharper—ozone and old leather.

And on the far side of the room, Kali Chandra was waiting.

She leaned against the wall near the grand staircase, arms crossed over her chest, looking every bit the six-foot-four, two-hundred-eighty-pound enforcer she was. Her dark Indian skin and black hair caught the low light. Streaks of red dye and matching contacts gave her an almost demonic edge. A tight black mesh top strained against her curves, paired with leather pants that hugged her thick thighs and wide hips. One combat boot tapped impatiently against the floor.

“New blood,” Kali said, low and rumbling. She didn’t bother hiding the irritation. “Alexandra said I had to play tour guide for the fresh meat. Something about ‘welcoming the newest initiate properly.’ I’ve got better shit to do right now.”

Izzy popped her gum once and grinned, unfazed. “Yeah? Well, Bea Clydesdale personally recommended this place, so here I am. Name’s Izzy. Izzy Vasquez.”

“Kali Chandra.” Kali pushed off the wall, her imposing frame moving with surprising grace. “Let’s make this quick. I’m still hunting down the asshole who broke into our lab last night. Whole fucking house is on edge.”

“You had a break-in?” Izzy asked, brows lifting. “What’d they take?”

“A vial of shrinking serum,” Kali grumbled. “The good stuff, too.”

“Really?” Izzy’s grin sharpened. She hooked her thumbs into the waistband of her cut-off jean shorts and gave her hips a lazy roll. Max felt the pressure surge through her ass like an earthquake before it eased again. “That’s funny… someone dosed my lil bro with that shit last night. Found him this morning, buck naked on a coffee table. That’s half the reason I’m here.”

Kali stopped mid-step, interest flickering. “No shit. You got him on you right now?”

“Course I do.” Izzy laughed, low and wicked. Without ceremony, she reached back, tugged the waistband of her shorts and thong away from her body, and fished between her cheeks with two black-nailed fingers. Max’s world lurched as she pinched him free.

Cool air slapped his sweat-slicked form. He dangled, gasping. Strands of her sweat still clung to him. Izzy held him up like a prize and turned her palm so Kali could see. Max’s heart hammered. Up close, Kali was overwhelming—dark skin, sharp features, crimson contacts boring into him, already calculating the best way to break him.

“Damn.” Kali leaned in, her breath warm and faintly spicy. “Look at that. Doesn’t even fight when you yank him out of your ass. Most tinies scream the whole way out.” She prodded his chest with one thick finger, nearly knocking him over. “Bet he’s been your personal stress toy since the second he shrank.”

Izzy shrugged. “Pretty much. Lil bro’s always been easy to handle.” The casual ownership in her tone made Max grimace, but he stayed perfectly still, too humiliated and exhausted to do anything else.

Kali gave a deep, appreciative chuckle. “I like your style. Reminds me of how I keep my own little projects in line.” Something flickered behind her eyes—private amusement—but she didn’t elaborate. “Alright. Tour time. Try to keep up.”

As they started moving, Kali gestured lazily around the common room. “Main hangout spot. Girls crash here after parties, smoke, plan shit. That big mirror over there? One-way glass.” Without breaking stride, she pushed open a set of double doors just beyond the sectional. “Ballroom’s through here.”

The space opened up, huge and vaulted, with a soaring ceiling, crystal chandeliers rewired for blacklights, and a polished wood floor scarred from a thousand wild nights. Plush purple couches lined the walls, and a small stage sat at the far end. “We throw all our parties in here,” Kali said. “No outsiders unless we invite them.”

As he stared out from Izzy’s palm, Max swallowed hard. The realization hit him like a bucket of ice water: somewhere in this room, someone had slipped the serum into his drink. He’d gone from awkward freshman trying to fit in to three inches tall and trapped in his stepsister’s ass in less than twelve hours. And now he was being paraded through the very house that made shrinking people its entire brand.

Kali steered Izzy through an arched side door into the dining room. She flicked on a row of low-hanging iron chandeliers, bathing the room in a warm blood-red glow. A massive oak table ran the length of the room, carved with gothic flourishes and polished to a mirror shine. Heavy velvet-backed chairs lined both sides. At the head sat an oversized throne-like seat, clearly built for someone used to being obeyed.

Kali ran a hand along the smooth wood. “Everyone eats together. Breakfast, dinner, no exceptions. Builds unity. Most of the girls here are vegan, so the cooks keep everything that way—tofu stir-fries, lentil curries, the works. Tastes better than it sounds, trust me.”

“A vegan sorority?” Izzy let out a short, sharp laugh, eyes sparkling. “The bathrooms here must smell crazy after a big meal.”

“They do. You’ll find out soon enough.” Kali gave Izzy a sideways glance, clearly entertained.

Leaving the dining room behind, they continued down a narrower hallway. Framed photographs and oil portraits of alumni and pivotal figures lined the walls from floor to ceiling. Black-and-white shots of women in flapper dresses mixed with seventies Polaroids and glossy modern headshots. Every face wore the same sharp, unapologetic confidence.

Kali slowed, letting Izzy take it in. “This is where the real story starts,” she said, almost casual, like they were just two girls chatting. “See that big portrait? That’s Volumnia Ventus—our founder.” She pointed at a towering woman in a dark gown, six-foot-plus, heavyset and painted with unflinching detail: broad shoulders and a commanding stare that dared you to look away. “Back in the Gilded Age, her old man got himself killed on a hunting trip in India. Left her a ridiculous fortune when she was barely out of her teens. Most people would’ve just partied forever. Not her. She collected art, traveled the world, studied at every fancy school that would take her. Eventually, she started her own.”

“Damn,” Izzy said, genuinely impressed. “She sounds like one bad bitch.”

Kali grinned. “She never took shit from anyone, especially men. Grew up in that whole ‘proper ladies know their place’ world and decided the place was on top. She was also openly a lesbian, back when that could wreck you. Had the money to pull it off anyway.”

They walked a few more steps. Kali tapped a smaller photo of a younger Volumnia beside the original Ventus University cornerstone. “The whole school basically started as a big 'fuck you' to the way things were. Men ran everything; women were accessories. She wanted a place where any girl could walk in and learn to be just as independent and ruthless as she was. No apologies. The sorority was her flagship—built right here in this house. She poured everything into it. And when she died, she left most of her fortune straight to the university, set up an unbreakable trust so nobody could ever touch it.”

Kali’s finger moved to another frame showing two women who looked eerily similar to the first. “Unbroken line ever since. Volumnia only had one daughter. That daughter only had one—Miss V’s mom. Now, Miss V runs the place and keeps the vision alive. The serum, the parties, the re-education… all of it traces straight back to her.” She smirked sideways at Izzy. “Fitting you showed up with your own tiny, already broken in.”

Izzy nodded slowly, still cradling Max in her palm. “Badass. I can get behind that.”

Max shuddered as Kali's words sank in. Conquer men. House Juno wasn’t just another sorority on campus; it was ground zero for everything that had ruined his life in the last twenty-four hours. The lab, the parties, the casual way these girls talked about “re-education”... this was the worst possible place he could have ended up at Ventus—and based on Izzy's reactions, she was already all-in.

They kept walking until they reached the second-floor landing. Kali stopped outside a door marked by a heavy iron pentagram, faint bass leaking through the wood. She turned fully toward Izzy and stepped close enough that her shadow swallowed the shorter girl whole. Her voice dropped, thick with that familiar domineering edge.

“I usually end the welcome tour for new girls right here,” Kali said, one thick finger tracing the air just above Izzy’s collarbone. “I show them my room. We… get acquainted. Fast. You look like you could handle it.” Her crimson gaze drifted slowly down Izzy’s body. “Bet you’d look good bent over my desk, those thick thighs spread while I teach you how things work around here.” She looked down at Max, then back to Izzy. "We could even make your tiny watch, if you want."

While Max went white, Izzy didn’t flinch. She met Kali’s stare head-on, black-lipsticked mouth curving into a lazy smile. “Appreciate the offer, but I’m straight. Like, actually straight. Boys only. Sorry to disappoint.”

The hallway went quiet for a beat. Then Kali threw her head back and laughed, deep and genuine. “Heard that one before. Plenty of times. Freshmen always say it.” She stepped back, still grinning, a new spark of respect in her eyes. “Doesn’t mean I won’t try again later.” She jerked her head toward the stairs. “One more stop. Basement lab. You’re gonna love this part.”

They descended the narrow staircase, which creaked under their combined weight. The air grew cooler and damper, carrying a sharp chemical tang that made Max’s skin crawl. The basement opened into a sprawling high-tech nightmare: gleaming stainless-steel counters, rows of bubbling beakers filled with neon liquids, computer monitors pulsing with data, and glass terrariums along one wall that Max refused to look at too closely. In the corner, a massive safe stood half-open.

"Any time a guy gets dosed with shrinking serum on campus, chances are it came from this room." Kali leaned against one of the counters, arms crossed, her hulking frame silhouetted against the glowing equipment. She glanced at Izzy, then down at the tiny, naked freshman still trembling in his stepsister’s palm. "We've been experimenting with growth serums, too. But only for girls. Obviously."

"Growth serums?" Izzy grinned. "Where do I sign up for that?"

"Let's not get ahead of ourselves." Kali put her hands on her hips, voice casual but edged with unmistakable command. “First things first, I'm gonna need to keep your little brother down here for a bit. Won’t take long." Meeting Max's gaze, she flashed an unmistakably sinister smile. "Assuming he behaves.”

Max’s blood ran cold. Izzy’s fingers curled a fraction tighter around him—protective, but not quite refusing. The air in the lab suddenly felt heavier, charged with whatever was to come.
