"Now what was it that you tested it on?"
"Here! Isn't it cute?"
Clarisse was quick to produce the shrunken box from her pouch, holding out both in her hands to her teacher who was observing both thoughtfully. She didn't share her student's excitement, only curiosity.
"You displaced its size? I'm surprised you were that quick to come up with something both abstract and visually obvious."
Cagliostro pointed at the floor in front of her.
"Now undo it."
Clarisse tossed the box up in the air before flourishing her wand forth, zapping it mid-air and restoring its size in an instant. It hit the ground with a solid thud right between the two.
"Roughly 1:10 scaling done in an instant... well, the restoration function seems to work as well. I wouldn't want to have to fix your screw-ups with that thing."
Caglistro reached out her hand. Clarisse handed the wand over and watched as her master plopped herself down on the box and continued inspecting it.
"Don't get me wrong, it's a passing grade. Better than anyone in the Guild could do. But there are still some serious flaws in this thing."
Cagliostro was quick to zap the box she had made her seat, making it vanish from sight, making it seem like she was floating.
"For one, you made no effort on placing restrictions on this thing. Anyone could use this even with minimal understanding on how it works. That is a serious flaw when you consider how powerful this thing is."
"Umm... what are you...?"
"I separated the wood from the box. It's as pure of a cube as cubes can get. Now don't interrupt me, I'm not finished."
With another snappy motion, Cagliostro zapped an empty flask located on another desk of hers. In a flash, it turned to wood.
"That's the second issue. It is too easy to displace whatever has been severed elsewhere. Even with the restoration function you're going to have to keep very precise track of what you've done with this if you don't want to end up causing permanent messes."
Clarisse's confident smile became increasingly nervous as Cagliostro kept digging her claws into her grand accomplishment.
"Ahaha... But it works, right? That other stuff just means that I need to be more careful..."
Cagliostro crossed her legs and leaned back as she looked at the fidgeting Clarisse up, straight in the eyes. Despite of their positions, it was Clarisse who was being looked down upon, and they both knew it.
"Clarisse, I don't accept my student settling for mediocrity. You should know this by now."
With two more zaps she returned the box to normal and continued...
