Gran looked around trying to see if there was another change he should be worried about out there, but apparently the only thing that changed was his size as he was now 2 inches tall, everything else looked just as he remembered.
He was still in his room and was standing near the edge of the bed, noticing the mattress felt like a hard surface now and even the pillow behind him would still be too large of a bed for his new size. The candle, his journal, the trinkets he kept from the islands he visited.. everything was there.
"How could this happen?" Gran thought as he watched the floor from the edge of the bed, the height was such he got the same feeling of excitement and danger he felt when watching the sky from the edge of the Grandcypher. Nothing came to mind though, the last place they visited was your standard trip to refill supplies, the last quest his crew had involved a perfectly normal fight with the Erste Empire soldiers where no magic that hinted at size changing properties was involved and no primal beasts of incomprehensible power appeared.
Gran remembered the dream again and gasped, but he realized it didn't take him closer to an answer anyway. He wasn't Ryugotarou and just remembering a fairy tale wasn't a reason to suddenly shrink, even in the Skyrealm full of mysteries and things to discover, it seemed ridiculous to wake up toy sized without any remotely good explanation. Gran looked around the room again, everything was quiet.. should he use the blanket to get to the floor? Maybe if he explored around he could find something within the ship that might caused this... He looked at his body again, he was fully dressed which also was odd because he didn't remember if he fell asleep with his clothes on..
"Lyria!" Gran remembered his unique condition, how his soul was connected with the mysterious girl and how that might be a plausible cause for his new size, as far fetched as it felt. But Gran was also worried about her, did she shrink too? could she have sense what happened? did this mean the link that kept both of them alive was at risk of being broken? Gran knew what he had to do now, he had to leave the room and try to reach her out before anything else.
