The wand seemed to function properly for approximately one second. With a great flash and terrible sound, the wand exploded in the alchemist's hands.
"Aaah!"
Clarisse fell square on her ass from the purple wave of energy that blasted through the room. Her eyes had closed on instinct and she didn't dare to open them for a good few moments as she braced herself, fearing the worst, but dared to open them after realizing that neither she nor her room had ceased to exist. Clarisse was welcomed to a sight of her room, more cluttered than ever before thanks to the explosion pushing everything all over the place, with the sizzling pieces of the wand scattered on the ground.
"Ah jeez! This is terrible!"
Her panicky self scrambled all over the floor collecting the parts that remained intact. There was no telling how functional they were anymore at a glance, even less so whether they had been damaged to begin with. All she could do was to sigh in dismay and pocket it all in her pouch for now.
"Well, at least the day can't get any worse."
