Escape From Kate's Bedroom
Winning Her Back Chapter 7

Kate and Anna walk out to go upstairs to Anna's room leaving Jack alone.  He quickly realizes how close a call that was as he climbs out of the sneaker and crosses the room heading for the open door.  He gets to the doorway and looks out to see if the coast is clear to go back to the laundry room and wait for Zoe.

He looks out and he sees Zoe in the laundry room looking for him.  He runs toward her but she starts to leave before he can get to her.  He yells at her but the washer and dryer drown out his tiny voice.  She heads back down the hallway away from him and he tries to follow her but she able to cover so much more ground than he can.   As he gets to the end of the hall he sees she went back upstairs to her room.

Jack looks around and realizes he is out in the open and vulnerable.  He sees the size of the steps and know it would be difficult if not impossible to climb.  He needs to find somewhere he can hide until the opportunity arises that he can contact Zoe.   He sees the sofa  which has material to the floor that he can hide behind.  He runs for the sofa and Jack gets there safely just as Kelly and Anna come back downstairs.

Anne says "I'm going to watch TV" as she flops on the sofa directly above Jack and her mom says "OK, but keep it low.  I still want to take my nap and tell Zoe not to bother me either."  Kate leaves the room and Anna turns on the TV.  His eyes adjust to the darkness and he sees metal supports running under the chair just above his head and he move closer to the center to investigate.

Suddenly there is a loud noise al around all around Jack and the metal starts to move.   Jack realizes he's under a recliner and Anna is reclining.  Jack hold his ears and drops flat afraid he may be cause in the massive mechanism.  It finally stops and Jack relaxes for a moment before he remembers Zoe's sister more than 50 times his size is just above him.

Jack settles in and his stomach rumbles and bit and he knows he can't wait forever.  Sooner or later he'll need water and food.  He's under there for a couple hours when Kate returns to make dinner but he can't move from his hiding place.  Eventually Zoe comes down for dinner but he can't come out if her mom or sister are there and he has no idea how long it will be until Zoe is alone in the living room.

Things get worse when Jack hears Zoe tell her mom that she is going over a friend's house down the street after dinner and he realizes his wait will be much longer.  He thinks that he needs a plan to get back upstairs so he can get back to Zoe's room.   Maybe he can come up with a way to have one of them unwittingly carry him back upstairs.

Then an opportunity presented itself when Kate came back in the living room with the laundry basket to watch TV while she folds the laundry.    After she finishes folding she put the basket on the floor and stretches out to watch the end of her show.  Jack thinks this may be his best chance.  He could climb back in the basket and let her carry him upstairs and right into Zoe's room where he can get out.  The biggest problem will be doing this without her seeing him.    He quickly decides to take the risk and climbs back in the basket landing on the soft clothes  He hides deep in the basket in case she looks in and waits for her to carry him upstairs.

It's only a few minutes until Kate turns off the TV and carries the basket upstairs.  She enters a room and sets the basket down on the bed and Jack hears her say "Here's you clothes Anna.  Put your away and then put the basket in Zoe's room so she can do the same." and she leaves.  Jack peeks out through the basket slots and you see Anna doing homework at her desk.    He thinks about hiding in Zoe's clothes and hope Anna carries you to Zoe's bedroom.  It sound pretty risky especially since your not sure who's clothes are who's.  He thinks his other option is to get out now and hightail it to Zoe's room on his own.

He decides to ...
