Jack is trapped in the basket as she carries it downstairs to where the washer and dryer are. Jack also knows that if gets dumped in the washing machine he is as good as dead. He gets to the wall of the basket and there are cutouts that he can climb to get out. Jacks gets lucky as her mom, Kate sets down the basket to move some towel from the previous load into the dryer first. Jack takes the opportunity to quickly climb over the top of the basket and back down to the floor. He barely has time to scamper alongside the washer and out of sight while the hamper is lifted back in the air.
Jack thinks that he doesn't want Zoe's mom seeing him tiny and naked and stays hidden hoping that she will come to look for him. Just as he thinks he'll get through this, Kate starts the washer and dryer. The noise from these skyscraper sized appliances make a noise that is so overwhelming to Jack that he can only hold his ears and do everything he not to run across the room away from these monsters.
He wants to stay and wait here for Zoe but he has no idea how long she will take to realize she needs to come here to look for him. The issue is the noise is overwhelming. He comes out from the washer and moves to the doorway into the hall. He remembers the house layout and he knows the master bedroom is in this same hallway and that could be trouble. If he goes the other way it leads to the great room of the house. Zoe's room is on the second floor and he would have no way to get back up there.
Jack decides to go across the hall to her mom's bedroom as it looks unoccupied and will give him a place to rest. When Zoe eventually shows up he can just go back to the laundry room to get her attention. He goes through the open door and rests between a dresser and the doorway.
He''s able to relax for a moment away from the noise and he takes a deep breath. However, he's rest is interrupted a moment later when he hears a noise and quickly realizes it is Kate in the hallway closing the door to the laundry before coming into the bedroom closing the door behind her trapping Jack inside. He watches as this impossibly large figure passes him, kicks her shoes off and goes into her bathroom.
Jack looks at the door and sees its too tight a fit for him to squeeze through. He doesn't want her mom to see him but there is nowhere nearby to hide. The dresser goes to the floor and he worries what would happen if she comes out of the bathroom while he is crossing the room to hide under the bed. He stays against the wall hoping she won't see him.
Kate comes out of the bathroom and Jack watches as she removes her pants leaving only a t-shirt and panties and she says to herself "I need a nap." and lies down on the bed. She is lying on her side facing him and Jack is now frozen afraid to move. He watches as she slowly closes her eyes and falls asleep.
Jack relaxes a little and decides it will be better for him to hid under the bed. She's snoring softly and he figures although the carpet will slow him down he should be able to make it easily and then he can bide his time until he can find Zoe. He starts across the floor and the carpet makes it a bit tougher than he thought but he's making steady progress.
He's about two-thirds of the way across the floor when there is a knock at the door and Jack hears a voice say "Mom?" that he recognizes as Anna, Zoe's younger sister. He runs as fast s he can toward the bed and Kate responds "I'm napping. Is it important?" Anna responds yes and opens the door to come in, "Yes, I can't find my blue top that I just got last week. Have you seen it?"
Jack can't makes it to the bed but there is a sneaker lying close to him and he dives in it before Kate or Anna spot him. Kelly sits up and tells her daughter "I think it is in the laundry I'm doing. Can't you wear something else." Jack crawl into the sneaker as far as he can to the toe section and the smell of Kelly's foot odor is terrible. They continue to talk and then Kate says "Let me help you find something else to wear to your friends." She gets out of bed and
