Ken walked on the side of the teeth, trying not to touch the tongue or any other part of the mouth lest he trigger his own doom. He made it to the edge of the mouth and jumped, landing on the bed. His sensitive body cried out in pain from the sudden impact, but he did not yell. He was covered in mucous and slime which started to absorb into the sheets below him. He wanted to yell and shout in celebration, but kept silent in case Lisa woke up and decided to eat him again, or something worse. He rolled over the sheets to dry himself off. The rough threads rubbing against his skin hurt like hell. The threads that were woven together looked like small ropes at his size, but they readily absorbed the sickening moisture from his body. He couldn’t get rid of all of it, and he still smelled like the inside of a stomach. It was as if Lisa had claimed him as hers, even if he did escape.

He shook this thought aside and made his way down the side of the bed. He was able to climb down a sheet hanging off the side, expending more energy and enduring more pain. As he reached the cool wooden floor of the bedroom, his body still stung with every step because of how sensitive the stomach acid had made it. He made his way towards the exit downstairs. Carefully, he hung by his hands from each step, minimizing the distance he would fall climbing down. This was even more exhausting and excruciating than he anticipated. He hadn’t eaten or drank anything for hours. Maybe he should have taken Lisa’s offer and ate some of her food, but it was too late now. His body was soft and sensitive. His ordeal was mentally fatiguing as well. As he approached the door Ken decided he had two options:

1. He could leave now, with what little strength he had in the dark of the night hoping he could make it next door to safety. The leftover shrinkies were going to be eaten no matter what he did. No point throwing his freedom away for them.

2. He could spend some time resting and scavenging food and water before he left in the morning guided by sunlight. That way he would be prepared for the journey. If he could find the other shrinkies that were spared being eaten for dessert, maybe he could save them too?

If he stayed, he risked being found by Lisa since she stayed home all day on maternity leave, or Ben on his way out to work. He decided Lisa was the main threat. If she found him again who knows what she would do. Would she just eat him again? Would she be upset that her dinner escaped and punish him? Maybe she would decide he earned his freedom from her stomach and simply let him go? There wasn’t really any way of knowing, and she could do anything she wanted to him if he got caught. On the bright side, he would be able to leave on a full stomach and rested body during the light of day if he waited.

On the other hand, if he left now he wouldn’t have to worry about being caught by Lisa again. It was nearly pitch dark outside. He would only have the moonlight and street lamps left to guide him. There could be nocturnal creatures out and about that may attack him. Not to mention he would be doing all this exhausted and partially digested.

Contemplating his options, Ken decided:
