“You know,” she whispers, as if loud voices hurt her brain. “That popcorn idea doesn’t sound all that bad.”

You gulp: you don’t like where this is going. She nonchalantly picks you up and drops you into her bowl.

“How’s this? If you can stay alive in this bowl without getting eaten, I’ll keep you,” she continues. “But if you can’t manage that, you’re too pathetic to be worth keeping around.”

You start to object, but she has already reached for the Cheerios and poured them on top of you. You struggle, buried amongst the Cheerios while she plops some strawberries on top. Then she pours some milk. You swim to the top to see her smiling face state, “Now, I won’t keep it easy on you.”

With that she scooped a spoonful of some kind of white mushy substance and dropped it directly on top of you. You were slammed back down to the bottom of the bowl as this stuff floated above you. You realized she had simply added yoghurt to her cereal.

To find some air, you swim underneath her yogurt to surface to one of its side. You must have chosen the wrong direction because her spoon was also scooping up yoghurt directly above you. Your gasps for breath attract her beating eyes, and she brings the spoon right towards you. You hastily duck under and swim out of the way right in time to avoid getting picked up.

You realize that even though you must surface to breathe, you must be quick and silent before she can notice you.
