This was it, Tails was really scared now, they were already narrowing down to his friends, it won't be long they start to investigate further until they finally get the conclusion. He have to get away but there is a risk that they would notice it and will be look at his way, they may find it suspicious. then again, acting like a nervous wreck was a risk too and if go for both, he'll be spotted!
The other choice was to remain calm and listen further to their conversation, then they won't suspect him at all and perhaps discard him altogether so he can have time to think in how to change the genes of te babies so they look more to their mothers rather than him.
