You head toward to statue, wanting to take a closer look at this strange stone carving. As you get closer, you end up tripping over your own feet and crash into the statue, knocking it off its pedestal. You hear a loud crash when it impacts against the floor. You look over that see that the statue has been smashed to pieces. You scramble off the pillar and move beside the statue's remains, hoping that you could somehow fix it.

"I'm so sorry, Fluttershy! I promise that... I'll..." You felt that something was very wrong when you saw that light above the pillar changed from a light blue to blood red. There was a harsh hissing sound as the top of the pillar opened up and a new statue emerged from it. This new statue looked a lot like Fluttershy, but there were several things wrong with it. In place the soft looking birdlike wings were sharp looking bat wings. While the face on the first statue had a kind looking smile, this one had seemed to hissing and sporting a sharp pair of fangs. The last thing you notice was that her mane was ragged looking and her ears were curved and jagged at the tips. “Fluttershy, why does this statue of you look li-” You stopped talking when you heard Fluttershy give a sick sound groan.

“Ugh… Mage, I don’t feel so good…” You’re really worried now, uncertain what your accident had done to Fluttershy.

Unbeknownst to you, Fluttershy’s body started to go through a radical change. Her wings were changing into batwings; her ears were changing shape and become more sensitive and two of her teeth had shifted into fangs. Her eyes soon snapped open, revealing that they were blood red.

“Oh no…” You heard Fluttershy speak again. “This is bad… this is very bad!”

“Fluttershy, speak to me! What’s going on? What can I do to help?”

“I just saw in a mirror, I’ve been turned into Flutterbat again!” She shouts out as her body start to shake, she must be on the move.

“Flutterbat? What’s Flutterbat?” You nervously scratch your arm as you question the frightened mare.

“It’s a long story, but the important thing right now is that I’m not in control of my body!” You can feel all the colour drain away from you face as the panicked mare speaks.

The bat mare was practically ransacking the kitchen, searching for the fruit that she was driven to eat. Finding none, she ran out the back of the house. She used her wing to shield her eyes from the setting sun. She was about to rush back into the house when she caught the scent of apples on the wind. Once she determined the direction that the delicious smell was coming from, she spread her wings and took off.

You tumble to the floor as Fluttershy’s body takes to the sky. You quickly get to your feet, despite the turbulence. “W-w-what’s happening?!”

“My body is now under control of a vampire fruit bat’s drive to find and eat fruits, specifically apples. I can’t control of my body anymore; I can see, hear and feel everything my body’s doing, but I can’t stop it.”

“I’m so sorry Fluttershy, this is all my fault. I just don’t get how breaking a statue could have caused this.”

“I think it may be somewhat of a metaphor or something that was made physical by the living fortress spell. The bat’s instincts and drives weren’t removed from me, but suppressed. Twilight’s spell made my mind the dominant one in my body again while the bat’s instincts were buried deep inside me and sealed away.”

“I guess that makes some sense, but I’ll admit that I’m really unfamiliar with all these different spells and the effect of them combining.” You briefly ponder, trying to come up with a possible solution. “Fluttershy, do you think that if I pushed the bat statue back down into the pillar, you would be in control again?” She remains silent for a moment as she considers your plan.
“I don’t think it’ll work unless you can repair the original statue. Can you do that?”

“I don’t think so. I learned how to repair flesh, not stone.” You then take a deep breath. “I still think that I should try to push the bat statue down. I think the worst case scenario would be it does nothing, so I think we should give it a try.”

“Alright, it does seem worth a shot. I just hope I don’t end up eating all the apples at Sweet Apple Acres…” You hop up onto the pillar and place your hands down on the statue’s snout and shoulder. As you push down, it does…
