The contents of the envelope were an invitation to come and visit the Sparkles' home and a small but detailed, seemingly horn-drawn map of Canterlot that showed all of the city streets and the royal palace in all of its glory. At the top of the map circled in bright red was a residence located in the Cloud District, a place where some of the more wealthy and noble elites reside, who usually have a direct line to the princess or are members of the Royal Court.
It makes sense that the parents of those who would become royalty occupy such a lofty position and also explains why they were able to secure much funding even though biomancy wasn't a popular subject of study.

You checked out of the hotel in which you were staying and walked out onto the street while whistling a jaunty tune. Though it was a few hours since Celestia's sun peeked over the horizon the level of activity on the streets was lower than you would've expected, as it was the custom of Canterlot ponies to sleep in on most days if they were not running a business or other activities that require early rising, which was in stark comparison to the ponies that lived in the valley below.

It was this propensity toward laziness that offered you plenty of time to walk around without being bothered by curious onlookers and see the sights before you arrive at your destination. It's not often that you get to visit the royal capital and you wanted to enjoy your time to the fullest, even if you were here on official scientific business. The palace's polished gold towers gleamed in the early morning sunlight and provided a sense of inspiration and awe that made your heartbeat quicken. It never failed to impress you how such a bright and gleaming structure could endure for a thousand years or more. It was a testament to the stability that a nigh immortal demi-god ruler can bring.

Much smaller than the towers of the castle but no less awe-inspiring were the castles and mansions that dominated the Cloud District. As you passed over the river running through the center of the city regular wooden homes and businesses quickly thinned out and gave way to well-manicured gardens and villas as well as marble statues and water fountains, and you knew you were in the right place.

You followed the path of the well kept smooth cobblestone road between several lots containing fancy homes of fancy wood and stonework until you came upon a sight that seemed to clash with the pure beauty of the buildings surrounding it: a large wooden building covered in tile roof with a central tower with an observatory with a huge slot for a telescope to stick through that was currently retracted.

It was as if the Sparkles had picked up their home and transplanted it there, which, knowing the magical potential they had been gifted with that they were able to pass onto their children., they most likely did.

As you approached the front door of the home the map you had been holding flew out of your hands and self-ignited before it exploded into a shower of green sparks, letting you know that this was indeed the correct location. That alone should've been enough the Sparkles' to your presence, but just to be polite you knocked on the door anyway and waited for an answer.

Your patience was soon rewarded as you heard "I'm coming" coming from inside and the sounds of hoofsteps approaching the door, which soon swung open to reveal...
