"Wait!" Nekara suddenly threw up a hand to stop you, and you turned back to face her.
Her expression was suddenly bashful, "I... I have to be honest. I was going to trick you into using your magic to give me power and then enslave you with the necklace. And possibly drain your magic as well. Sorry about that," she confessed.
Your eyebrows shot up. Now that was a development that you did not expect. Though given the obviously evil nature of her garb, maybe you should have.
"I'm not angry, and I'm glad you told me that. I still would like to why, however."
Nekara bit her lip. "It's because you're such a cute guy and so sweet, and in case you haven't noticed, there aren't many of those around here. I get awfully lonely sometimes and could use a warm guy to squeeze. Plus, it's in my nature. Evil characters do evil things for selfish reasons. That's just the way it goes."
"You don't have to be evil, " you pointed out. "You can be whatever type of person you want if you just try. You seemed like such a nice lady when I walked in. Why don't you be more of that, except genuine?"
Nekara blew out a puff of air and gave you a tired look. It seems like she'd heard this type of spiel before. "That's easy for you to say. You're a goody goody human types (no offense) and I'm a demon who keeps getting typecast into villainous roles. And I revel in them. It's not easy to portray a compelling villain, you know. You need a good mix of all the good qualities that people love to hate. Villainy is a craft, an art form. It's not for everyone."
"Seems like you have a lot of passion for the craft," you said with a smile.
This seemed to brighten Nekara's mood. "Exactly! Finally someone gets it."
"Alright, so... I guess I won't need to enchant that necklace after all," you said.
Nekara looked conflicted. Now that she had gotten to get to know you a little better, she didn't want to lose you as a friend. On the other hand, dark plots for you still swirled around inside her head, and her nature compelled her to act on those plots. It was a confusing and perplexing quandary, and the dark side was winning.
"Well..." she began.
