"I suppose we have no choice but to throw him in the dungeon," the lead she-dog reluctantly muttered, then shook her head. "Just because there's a human man here doesn't mean we can ignore standard operating procedures. Pick him up, gently, and take him to block C and someone else can deal with him."
The wolf and dragon leered at you while the she-bear gave you an apologetic look and cracked her knuckles. "Sorry about this, little guy, but rules are rules."
The bear took a step toward you, and you took a step backward. You weren't about to be taken without a fight, especially with the implications of the other guards wanted to do with you. You raised your hands and charged them with magical energy, fully prepared to fight for your freedom when you heard a voice ring out from somewhere nearby.
Stop!
A shower of silver sparkles sudden appeared in the air, bathing the room in a strange light that even gave the mighty looking she-bear guard pause. Eventually, the sparkles coalesced into a single mass and slowly faded in intensity, revealing the shape of a brown lynx that you could only see from the back.
Her voice was preternaturally calm as she spoke, even in light of the tense situation you were facing. The guards seemed to instantly recognize who was speaking and immediately kneeled in front of the lynx with respect, even the dragon and wolfess who had lusted after you so brazenly.
"This human is under my protection. Please return to your posts and I will take care of him."
There was a metallic clink as the lead she-dog guard bowed her head. "By your leave, my lady, we will leave the human in your capable hands. Shall I inform the queen of his arrival?"
The lynx seemed to consider it for a moment, before shaking her head. "No, I will make a report and send it to her for review, including the misconduct I witnessed here today. Shera, you need to get your recruits in order or I will be forced to do it for you."
The dragon and wolf suddenly looked very nervous and began whistling innocently, which earned them a withering glare from their commander. "Aye lady, there will be consequences for their actions, no doubt about that."
"Shera" turned to her underlings and (literally) barked out an order to her underlings, "Alright get back to your stations, all of you, nothing to see here!"
As the guards dispersed and returned to wherever they came from the lynx turned around to you and bent her knees down to your level like an adult might address a child, smiling sweetly. "Hello human, you must've come a long way to end up in this place. My name is NICOLE. Pleased to meet you."
She held out her hand for you to shake, and after a moment's hesitation, you took it. "He...llo. My name is [Y/N] and yes, I did travel pretty far to get here."
Farther than she could even imagine, you added mentally.
NICOLE nodded with a sagely air that somehow seemed to suit her.
"You're pretty far away from your own kind, and yet you chose to come here, among strangers. I suppose that takes a lot of bravery, putting yourself out of your comfort zone like that. I almost envy you a little bit. I can't even leave the castle walls without a mobile transmitter on me. Did you come to see the queen, by any chance?"
That wasn't exactly your initial plan of what you wanted to do while you're here, but hey, why not? You've never gotten to meet a queen in person before and now seems like just as good a time as any. "Sure! I'd love to!"
NICOLE straightened up and beamed at you. "Great! If you'll just follow me, I'll take you to her."
