"Hm?" Shantae suddenly perked up, before her eyes glided down to the table you sat on—scratch that, glided down to rest on you, specifically. The only saving grace was that she didn't look upset at the presence of a tiny in her house, moreso surprised. "What the? Why's there a tiny guy here? ...This better not be one of Rotty's pranks."
"Uh, n-no, I-I'm, I'm nothing of the sort," you said, as you racked your brain for a convincing story that wouldn't make her toss you out. "I-I was out wandering the desert, when a ScorpGal appeared out of nowhere and chanted some kind of spell at me. Next thing I know, I woke up here, on this table."
"A ScorpGal wielding magic?" Shantae noted in surprise, arms crossed in thought. "...Never came across any that didn't use a sword, you sure you didn't get caught up in any of Risky's antics?"
Damn, maybe I should've said it was Risky who did it. "Pretty sure, I mean I doubt all scorpions invest in swords." You almost considered feigning ignorance to ask who Risky Boots was, but remembering how notorious her reputation is that might be too much naivete to be believable.
"Hrm, fair enough." Shantae shrugged, walking up to investigate, inadvertently giving you a good look at how much curvier she was compared to the games. "Unfortunately, I'm not the best at dispelling curses, so unless that ScorpGal happens to rampage through Scuttle Town on a whim you might be stuck like that for a while."
"That's a shame," you lied, sitting down to gaze up at her. "S-so... Would I be able to stay here with you, then?"
"Don't see why not," she noted with a shrug. "Things have been rather slow lately, even with my uncle's inventions breaking more than usual. Could do with the change of pace in watching over a little guy."
"Great!" It took all your willpower not to break out into a happy dance at the thought of staying here in the presence of this beautiful belly dancer—though, as a result, the next question that came out of your mouth was nearly unfiltered. "Uh, i-in that case..."
