Completing the Cycle My name is Jill Tiny chapter 31 by copier · original author: dr.manhattan

Jill intently reviewed the scattered papers surrounding her as she sat indian style at the foot of her much, much too large bed. Buried amongst the disorganized archives were four empty manila envelopes.

"Well, here we are!", a vivacious proclamation emanated from the doorway linking Jill's room to the adjacent hallway.

Jill's beryl eyes strayed from the analytical document which happened to be in her hands at that moment. They soon came to rest on a tall blond girl, dressed in a violet mini-skirt and soft yellow blouse, approaching the bed. In the giant's right hand, a ten inch brunet, wearing tired jeans with a plain white t-shirt, leaned her elbows onto an enormous index finger. Her hands pressed into her cheeks, which only served to scrunch the annoyed look on her face rather cutely.

"You guys came together?", Jill asked in surprise.

Cindy carefully set her tiny cargo onto the lavender bed spread. She then readied herself to leap onto the fabric encased mattress, but froze at the sight of a stern frown on Jill's face. The smaller blond motioned to the files surrounding her. Cindy took the hint, and began to crawl into bed slowly.

"I told big girl here that she could pick me up and drop me off at my house", Jackie explained with mild irritation, "Just so long as she doesn't decide to get all 'touchy-feely' with me while we're here. Right, Cindy?".

Jackie pivoted to confront her large friend, only to meet Cindy's grinning visage mere inches away laying atop folded hands, placing her eyes roughly level with the heads of the two tinies before her. Stumbling backward in shock, Jackie tripped over her feet a bit. As she regained her footing, saving herself the embarrassment of falling over, she took note of Cindy's radiant hair brightening the cushioned ground as it stretched ever so far in all directions. The sight of Cindy's majestic tanned calves teetering aimlessly in the background high above also drew Jackie's attention, as well as her envy.

"Yeah, yeah", Cindy half-heartedly acknowledged Jackie's claim, "So Jill, what's with-".

A single raised finger stopped Cindy in mid-sentence.

"Hold on a minute, girlzilla", Jackie demanded, "We're in psycho-bitch mother territory now. We need to watch what we say".

"It's fine", Jill assured definitively, "Mom won't be home for hours. Ever since we found out about the complex, she's been working a lot more. I guess she doesn't see the need to pretend to be a normal mother now that I know the truth".

There is a brief silence between the three girls.

"And you don't have any siblings", Jackie broke the awkward quiet, "So we don't have to worry about any kids blabbing anything".

Cindy gave a concerned look, "What about you're father?".

"Yeah", Jackie seemed impressed with Cindy's question, "I didn't see him when we came in. Actually, I don't think I've ever seen him...at all. Where is he?".

"He left a long time ago", Jill lowered her head as she answered sadly, "Because of me".

"What do you...", Cindy halted her query as a solution came to mind, "You don't mean because you're...".

Jill cut Cindy off, "A tiny? Yeah, that's exactly what I mean".

"H...he said that?", Jackie was in disbelief.

"Never to my face", Jill responded void of emotion, "But yes, I heard him say it".

Jill paused, gathering herself with a deep breath before continuing, "Dad was always sort of mean to me, but I never knew why. Then, one night about six years ago, I heard mom and dad fighting in the kitchen. They yelled about a lot of things, but I can only remember one thing my father said, 'I even can't stand to look at that brat. I want one of my own to raise'. A week later he was gone. They still see each other, mom and dad. I think he's waiting for me to leave".

Again, the room turned deafeningly soundless.

Jackie walked over to the quivering countenance of Cindy, placing her left hand on the gigantic cheek. Casually, she straightened her adjoining arm and leaned into it.

"So, secret agent woman", Jackie did her best hide the sorrow in her voice, "How did the rest of your first week go?".

With the ocular nearest Jackie, Cindy spied the teeny teen moving her free hand in a hasty, circular motion.

"Oh, uh, it went pretty well actually", Cindy replied, quick to catch on, "We spent a little more time at the shooting range. They taught us some killer Kung Fu moves. I even learned a couple of things about...spying". Cindy hesitated for a second, but clumsily added, "And, I think I've...met someone".

"Really?!", Jill and Jackie ask simultaneously. Jill beat Jackie to the follow up, however, "What's he like?".

Cindy bit her lower lip as described the boy in question, "Well, he has short brown hair, and deep blue eyes. He's got a bit of an attitude, but that's part of his charm. You know, he's a lot like you now that I think about it, Jackie".

"Of course he is", Jackie snickered under her breath, then added at a more audible volume, "This guy got a name?".

Cindy stared beyond her two minuscule companions as she softly uttered, "Sylvie".

"What about you, Jackie?", Jill inquired, "Anything exciting happen to you this week?".

Removing herself from her perched position upon Cindy's chin, Jackie giddily strode toward her slightly taller friend, who is now standing. Her faced beamed with excitement as she gripped Jill's shoulders.

"I thought you'd never ask", Jackie stated ecstatically afore opening her hips to double her audience. "They sent us to the complex's head laboratory for physics and genetics research, you know, to watch and learn. That place is amazing! Almost everything has a terminal next to it, and entering different codes into those terminal causes those things to morph into other things".

A befuddled look sweep across Cindy's face, "Morph? You mean like transform?".

Jackie nodded eagerly, "It's so cool! And the best part is, they're finally going to let us do some hands on work starting tomorrow".

"That's great, Jackie", Jill enthused for her friend.

"And how is the boss lady holding up?", Jackie shifted gears.

"Not too bad", Jill modestly admitted, "But it's a little weird. Everyone, well almost everyone, acts real nice to me, but it feels so...fake. And then there's Mac...".

"The bum?", Jackie interrupted, "What about him?".

"He...looks at me", Jill put emphasis on the word looks.

"Ew!", Cindy and Jackie shouted in unison.

"Not like that", Jill corrected plainly, "I don't really know how to describe it. Maybe he knows I'm up to something?". Jill then looked down at the litter of papers at her feet, "Which leads me to this mess".

"I was gonna ask about those", Cindy announced.

"This stuff here is the mainframe's complete log", Jill informed her two compatriots, "Every action to take place in the complex over the last month is contained somewhere in these files".

"All that just for a month?", Cindy was in disbelief.

"Yep", Jill confirmed, "I've been studying all of this over the last week, looking for, anything, really. I knew it was a long shot, but I think I found something. It seems old Kurtzie has been getting around quite a bit lately. A lot more than a security officer should. She's been spending a whole lot of time in Behavioral especially. I'm pretty sure she's up to something".

"So you think we should find out what that something is, huh?", Jackie interjected.

"No problem", Cindy volunteered, "I'll see if I can dig up anything".

Jill bobbed her head approvingly, "Thanks, Cindy".

"I hate to cut this meeting short", Jackie addressed Jill, "But I'd really like to get out of here before your mom gets back".

"I don't blame you", Jill agreed, "Sometimes I wish I could leave, too".

Cindy slithered out of the bed feet first. Her gargantuan hand swooped down on Jackie with a cautious playfulness. Jackie, in turn, squirmed as she was raised in the big blond's grasp.

"Don't go climbing any skyscrapers on the way home, Kong", Jackie teased as Cindy carried her toward the room's exit, "Heights and I don't get along".

"Oh, no!", Cindy gasped, tucking Jackie tightly into the embrace of her right arm, "Don't worry dolly, I'll never let go!".

Jill released a short giggle as Jackie's complaints echoed down the empty hallway. She then went back to reading and rereading the information from the mainframe.

Perhaps the laughter would have been better savored had Jill known how long it would be before her friends and she would laugh again.
