Mrs. Keeper entered the cell after the uniformed woman. "My, my. Jill. I'm disappointed in you."
Jill crossed her arms over her chest and walked forward, looking up at her mother. "What's going on here, mom?"
Jill's mom ignored her, and walked forward - over and past Jill - and stood above Cindy's sitting legs, looking down at Cindy's scared face. "Cindy," she looked down at her in a dangerous looking frown. "You've been messing around with my daughter."
Suddenly, Mrs. Keeper forcefully grabbed Cindy's ponytail and pulled her up to a standing pose, to look directly into her eyes. Cindy gasped, and Jackie screamed. "Noooooooooo!"
Mrs. Keeper pushed Cindy to the wall and turned to look down at Jackie. She was about to reach a hand to grab her when she saw her hand was covered in blood. She moved her hand to her face. "What the..." she started. Jackie looked more furious then ever, she tried to run forward but Jill used all her force to hold her still, with her arms wrapped around Jackie's body. "Let go of me!!" Jackie cried to Jill.
Cindy reached her hands to her hair, and as fast as she could she disentangled the two little bodies from her ponytail. She quickly laid them down on the floor. They were both bleeding and unconscious. Jackie managed to push Jill aside and run to them. She sat down and grabbed Sally's head into her lap, and stoke her hair, crying. "Please wake up, please wake up..."
Then Sally's eyes were opened, and she looked back at Jackie. "Jackie..." She smiled briefly, and then passed away. Jackie looked up at Mrs. Keeper and screamed. "YOU KILLED THEM!!!"
Meanwhile, Nurse Granville stood up and watched the scene. Mrs. Keeper sighed. To everyone's astonishment she just kicked Jackie aside, and grab the now sobbing Cindy by her ponytail again. She pushed her to the uniformed woman, who was actually smiling. "Major Kurtz, take her away from here."
The woman smiled as she forcefully grabbed Cindy's arms. "What should I do with her, ma'am?"
Mrs. Keeper looked a little angry. "I don't care what you do with her, Kurtz. She's your prisoner. Do whatever you see fit."
Jill began to protest, but then thought better of it and kept her mouth shut. Instead, she walked over to Jackie who lied hurt on the floor, and helped her to get up.
Kurtz started to walk Cindy out when Mrs. Keeper spoke again. "Oh, and take the midget too." She knelt and grabbed nurse Granville by her legs. With her other hand she grabbed Cindy's sweatshirt, which laid on the floor next to her. She wrapped the sweatshirt around the little nurse, and tied it up, having her completely wrapped by it - with only her nose and up sticking out. She the shoved the wrapped nurse under Major Kurtz's armpit, with Kurtz's hands being occupied holding Cindy.
"Now get out of here, Major. I'll handle the rest."
With that, Kurtz left the cell, taking Cindy and Louise with her.
Mrs. Keeper knelt down and scooped Jill and Jackie. With one hand she held Jackie, swinging down near her hip as she walked out of the cell. The other hand held Jill, up and in front of her face.
Looking at her mom, Jill seemed emotionless - after all, what emotion could anyone show after something like that?
"Who are you?", Jill said, simply.
"I'm your mother, Jill."
Mrs. Keeper continued walking, but Jill didn't really follow where, she was too shocked. After a few minutes of being held in front of her mom's face and progressing down the facility, Jill finally spoke again.
"...Who am I?"
Her mom smiled. "I want to show you something. We're here." With that, Mrs. Keeper entered another room in the facility. There was a huge pink waterfall pouring from the ceiling and a river of pink water going across the room and ending down in a hole in the floor.
Jill's mom let her daughter to the floor, and then she let Jackie to the floor too. Jackie just ran to Jill's arms and hugged her, sobbing. Jill, however, was beyond crying. She just looked... apathetic. As if she was past being horrified.
Mrs. Keeper took a small glass from a shelf in the wall of the room. She put the glass in the pink river, and slid it back out. The glass was full of the odd pink liquid. Jill, with Jackie clinging in her arms, walked curiously near the pink river, where her mom sat down.
Her mom smiled at her, and handed her the glass. To Jill the glass was rather big, but she managed grab it with both her hands, after she gently moved Jackie aside. Jackie sat on the floor next to her and continued to sob.
"Drink it", her mom ordered.
"What is it?" Jill questioned, but her mom just smiled and cued her to drink. Jill sighed. "Ok, here goes..." and she drank a one gulp of the pink liquid. It tasted like nothing she ever tasted before - not particular delicious, but not that bad either. She then drank another few gulps.
"Ok, I drank it. So what is it, mom?"
Jill's mom took the glass from Jill and placed it on the floor. "Look for yourself."
Jill was confused. "What do you mean..."
"Just look for yourself, Jill. Closely."
"Ok..." Jill neared her face to the glass, until her nose rubbed against it. She moved her eye close to the glass, and closed her other eye.
And then she saw.
Jill backed and fell to her butt, her eyes opened wide, again she was in shock. Meanwhile Jackie was starting to calm down, and was able to speak again. She held Jill's hand, and spoke to her.
"What is it, Jill? What did you see??"
What Jill saw wasn't water, nor even liquid. It wasn't even a substance... "It's people, Jackie. It's millions of millions of tiny, microscopic naked people."
Jackie went quiet again, and so did Jill, who thought about what she had just seen. Most of the microscopic people were alive, and in distress. Some of them were dead. All of them tried to climb up over each other, helplessly. And she just... drank them... she's digesting them right now, thousands of them.
"You are now ready to know," her mom once again spoke.
"Tiny humans. They are everywhere. They're living on the sidewalks, in the forests, on the beach... They're living all around us.
We only found about their existence in recent years in one of our research facilities. It was an accidental discovery. Since then, we study the phenomena.
You have to understand, Jill. I know what you're thinking. But treating them like people with equal rights would be impossible. Their number is nearly infinite, and we unknowingly kill thousands of them in every day of our lives. Yes, Jill, even you.
"What you see in this glass is a genetically modified version of those people, enlarged by 100 times their original size. We call this size A100.
Your size is G400, Jill.
Jackie here is G395."
Jill and Jackie sat hugged, shocked, and looked at Mrs. Keeper. Jill started, "So I am..."
"That's right, Jill. You're not human. Well, not exactly, anyway. But we share genetic material, and that makes you my daughter."
"The genetics studies..." Jackie mumbled.
"Jill, you are my daughter, and that makes you more important than any of the normal sized people working for me here."
"Your facili..."
"That's right Jill, I own this place. And when the time comes, you will be the one ordering people around. But before that happens, I need you to understand. I need you to understand that you can't get emotional while dealing with smaller people. And to do that, I need you to enter that door."
With that, Mrs. Keeper pointed at a small door at the wall of the room. Jill hesitated for a moment, then she shook her head. "I'm not going anywhere without Jackie."
Jill's mom sighed. "Fine. I guess it couldn't hurt. Now go on, both of you."
Jill held Jackie's hand, and together they walked all the way to the small door. Mrs. Keeper walked there too, in two big steps. She opened the door for them, and pushed them in.
Before they got a chance to react, Mrs. Keeper called them from the other side: "You've got twenty four hours to kill them all, or Cindy dies!" And then she slammed the door shut and locked it behind them.
Jill and Jackie looked into the room they were in. It was a city, a big, huge city. The biggest skyscraper in it, however, was only twice as high as Jill.
The tiny people of the city barely reached Jill's and Jackie's shins.
Jackie and Jill looked at each other for a moment. They nodded their heads in agreement.
