Jill had made her way out onto the sidewalk in front of Chloe's house, and was resting up against a fire hydrant, when a shadow fell over her.
Frightened, Jill turned slowly around.
"Oh, no!" she gasped.
Two giant feet were planted on the sidewalk on either side of her. She saw huge white sneakers below short, white socks. As her gaze was drawn upward, Jill saw slim, tanned calves, followed by cute, slightly scabbed knees, and smooth, well-formed thighs. The giant girl wore a short white skirt and a blue t-shirt. Her pretty face was framed by a thick fall of long, blond hair.
The giantess, whose face had registered only surprise at first, now broke into a tentative smile.
"Is that you, Jill?"
Jill blinked up at the giantess. "You...you know me?"
The giant girl's smile widened. She nodded. "I saw you the other day in class when the teacher introduced you. I wanted to meet you, but the last I saw, you were with Chloe. I figured the two of you must have hit it off, and maybe she invited you over for the weekend. I guess I was right, huh? Oh, I'm Cindy, by the way."
Jill looked nervously up at the giant girl, wondering what her angle was. Was Cindy friends with Chloe? Did she know about Chloe's 'collection'? "Uh, hi, Cindy. Nice to meet you. So...you and Chloe must be friends, huh? You came here to see her?"
Jill darted glances right and left, scanning for an escape route should Cindy try to grab her. She saw with some dismay that the only cover even close was some shrubs over next to Chloe's house, and Jill doubted she could beat a giant in a race to them. She looked back up at the giantess, waiting.
Cindy shook her head. "Oh, no. I barely know Chloe. My sister used to play with her sister, that's all. That's the only reason I even knew where she lived. Actually, I thought you might be here, and I just wanted to meet you, that's all."
Jill narrowed her eyes. "Why did you want to meet me so badly?"
Cindy blinked. "What do you mean?"
"Well, you must have lots of friends at your school. Why did you want to meet me?"
Cindy looked genuinely confused. "Why wouldn't I want to meet you? You're new at the school, and I just wanted to introduce myself. I thought maybe we could be friends."
Jill suddenly realized she had become instantly suspicious of Cindy, and there was no real reason for it - other than her own natural mistrust of giant strangers. She supposed she was also a little skittish because of the way Chloe's family had treated her.
Jill decided to take a chance. "Cindy, Chloe kidnapped me. She planned to keep me a prisoner in her room. Will you please take me home to my mom?"
Cindy stared down incredulously at the small girl who still leaned up against the fire hydrant. "She...she what?"
Jill stepped away from the hydrant a bit, closer to Cindy's shoes. "Chloe kidnapped me. I'm serious. You've got to believe me, Cindy. And help me. Please."
Cindy stared at Jill a few moments longer, then nodded. "Okay, Jill. I believe you. But if Chloe really did kidnap you, she'll be looking for you now, won't she?"
Jill's mouth dropped open. "Oh, my God! You're right! Get me out of here, Cindy! Please!" Jill raised both her arms to the giant girl.
Cindy got to one knee, then lowered her hand towards Jill. Her huge fingers were just brushing Jill's side, when they pulled back.
Jill looked up. "What?"
Cindy put her hand on her knee, looking flustered. "Well...what do I do? Just, like, grab you?"
Jill couldn't believe her ears. Now somebody was actually asking permission to pick her up. "Sure, Cindy. Thanks for asking. You can just grasp me around the waist, and lift me in one hand. Hold me for a second before you lift; I may look a little like a Barbie Doll, but I'm softer and more fragile, so get a feel for how tightly to hold me."
Cindy nodded. She reached her hand slowly forward again, gently encircling Jill's waist. She closed her fingers gingerly around Jill's body, squeezing lightly, apparently trying to get a feel for how delicate the small girl was. Satisfied, Cindy lifted Jill slowly off the ground. "How's this?" Asked Cindy, as she brought Jill up to eye level.
Jill rested her hands atop Cindy's finger. "Pretty good. Hold me a little tighter, though. I'm slipping down in your fingers a little."
Cindy tightened her grip slightly. "How's that?"
Jill raised one tiny thumb.
Ginning, Cindy stood up. "Okay where do you live, Jill?"
Jill gave Cindy directions to her house.
"Really? I just live a couple streets over from there."
As a Cindy walked, holding Jill carefully in front of her, Jill related her experiences with Chloe's family. The larger girl looked shocked as Jill told the story. Cindy asked a few questions here and there, but mostly just let Jill tell it all straight through.
When Jill had finished, Cindy let out a breath, shaking her head. "That's awful, Jill! Chloe and her whole family should be arrested! We need to call the police!"
Jill shook her head. "No, Cindy. Let's not do that just yet."
"Why not?"
"Well," Jill said. "I don't know. Let's just wait. I want to think about it awhile. If Chloe somehow gets out of it, she could find a way to hurt me. You wouldn't understand, Cindy. You don't know what it's like to be small."
"I guess you're right about that." Cindy replied, as she turned the corner onto Jill's street. "Okay, we'll wait. Oh, hey, isn't your mom going to wonder why you're dressed in that pink underwear?"
Jill's eyes went wide. "Oh! I'd forgotten all about that! Help me think of a story!"
Cindy scratched her chin. "Well, how much of the Chloe situation were you going to tell her?"
"Hmmm. I'm not sure. Not all of it. I don't want her calling the police. But, you know, I do think I might want her to know Chloe was a little mean to me. That way she won't make me go back to the big people school." Jill patted Cindy's finger, thinking. "Why don't we tell her that Chloe took me home and played with me a little, stripping me, and putting these doll clothes on me. I escaped from her, then you found me."
"You don't think she would call the police?"
Jill shook her head. " I think I could talk her out of it."
"Okay," Cindy agreed. "Hey, is this your house?"
Jill looked, then nodded. "Yep. Let's go."
Later, Jill's mom and the two girls sat in the living room, the big people sitting on chairs on opposite sides of the room, while Jill sat on the edge of a book on the coffee table.
"Well," said Jill's mother. "That's quite a story. Thank you, Cindy, for helping my daughter."
"Oh, you're welcome, ma'am."
"Now, Jill. Are you sure you don't want me to at least talk to this girl's parents. It sounds like she was mean to you."
Jill stood up from the book, and raised her arms to her mother, who scooped her up in both hands and cuddled her against her breasts. "I'm sure, Mom. I'd just rather forget the whole thing. Can I please go back to my old school?"
Jill's mom frowned. "Don't you want to give it another try. After all, there are nice kids like Cindy there, too. Maybe you and Cindy could be friends."
Cindy saw her opening. "Ma'am, I'm sure Jill and I can still be friends, even if we don't go to the same school. In fact," she looked down at Jill lying on her mother's chest. "Jill, I thought I could meet you after school on Monday. Maybe I could meet you outside your school, and you could introduce me to some of your friends."
"That would be great, Cindy!"
"Well...," began Jill's mom.
"Please, Mom!" Jill kicking her legs excitedly, nearly causing her mom to drop her.
"Okay, okay! Calm down, young lady!" Jill's mother said, setting Jill on the carpet. "I'll need to call your old school. They'll probably have some homework you'll need to do for Monday. You better say goodbye to Cindy for now. Very nice to meet you, Cindy."
Cindy smiled, as she rose from her chair. "Thanks, ma'am. Nice to meet you, too."
"Here, Cindy," said Jill, stepping over beside the big girl's leg. "I'll walk you to the door."
As Cindy walked to the door, she was amused to see Jill jogging along beside her foot, like an excited little puppy.
When they reached the door, Cindy knelt down and held out a finger to Jill. The tiny girl took it in both of her hands and shook it vigorously. "Thanks for helping me today, Cindy. It's good to have a new friend."
"No problem, Jill," replied Cindy, freeing her finger and rising to her feet. "See you after school on Monday."
"See ya!" Jill waved as Cindy smiled, closing the door on her way out.
On Monday, Jill did return to her old school. She was glad to see her old friends, but mostly, she was just glad to be back with people her own size. Here, she was not the center of attention, and she found she enjoyed getting back into the somewhat dull, but safe routine in her old classes. By the time the school day was done, however, she was more that ready to leave.
At three, she and her friend Jackie left the small school building, and headed along the sidewalk. They had only taken a few steps when Jackie said, "Here comes a Big,"
Jill looked up, and saw...
Frightened, Jill turned slowly around.
