The first light of a new morning filtered through the garage, casting long, golden streaks across the floor and illuminating the shimmering scales of the three lamias. Aurelia stirred slowly, her consciousness returning in a gentle tide of warmth and heavy contentment. She felt the familiar, comforting weight of Mati within her, his presence a steady anchor that had remained unchanged through the long, deep slumber of their collective food coma. A slow, luxurious stretch rippled through her massive red and blue frame, her muscles flexing with a slow, rhythmic power that inadvertently gave Mati a firm, full-body squeeze before she fully awoke.
Beside her, Emily was already vibrating with a nascent energy, her blue tail twitching in small, erratic loops against the concrete. She didn't wake up so much as she ignited, her blue eyes snapping open with an immediate, wide-eyed curiosity. She immediately pressed her cheek against the side of Aurelia's belly, listening for the rhythmic breathing of her father. "He's still in there!" she cheered in a hushed, excited whisper, her voice echoing with the joy of a child discovering a favorite toy. "Daddy is still in his cozy-warm room! Do you think he's still dreaming about the mangoes?"
Emilia rose with a graceful, sweeping motion, her red coils unfurling with the elegance of a royal banner. She looked down at her daughters and the sanctuary they had maintained, her blue eyes softening with an overwhelming sense of peace. She leaned down to kiss the top of Emily's pink head before resting her hand on the curve of Aurelia's stomach, feeling the slow, steady thrum of the baby and the man within. "A new day has found us," she murmured, her voice a low, resonant purr that vibrated through the room. "And our treasure remains safe and cherished in the heart of our home."
Inside the sanctuary, Mati drifted back to wakefulness, feeling the oppressive but comforting heat of Aurelia's interior. The transition from sleep to consciousness was slow, a hazy blend of golden warmth and the rhythmic, drumming heartbeat of his daughter. He felt the external pressure of Emily's cheek against the wall and the gentle touch of Emilia's hand, creating a sensory map of his family's positions around him. He let out a long, slow breath, savoring the absolute security of being enveloped by those he loved most, feeling a profound sense of belonging that transcended the physical boundaries of his own skin.
Aurelia let out a soft, contented sigh, her gaze drifting toward the kitchen where the remnants of yesterday's feast still hinted at sweetness. However, as she shifted her weight, a new, insistent growl resonated from her depths—a biological demand that mirrored the hunger of her sister. She looked at Emily and shared a knowing, mischievous smile. "I think," Aurelia whispered, her voice a deep, vibrating hum that massaged Mati's entire being, "that the King of the Belly might be waking up to a very hungry court. Should we plan another feast, or perhaps something... more savory this morning?"
