Microscopic Survival

There was an uncomfortable silence as Brenda thought about the next step. Obviously, you wanted her to thoroughly consider your options, but something didn't feel quite right with how long it was taking her.
"Alright," Brenda's voice suddenly boomed through the environment once more. "Since neither of us know what's going on, it might be for the best if you just stay with me while we figure it out. I'd need to see who to even contact about this, and hope they actually believe me. If we're lucky, then this happened to multiple people, and isn't just some freaky one-off accident that defies the laws of nature. But I doubt we'd even find out about that anytime soon."
Brenda's thought process was understandable, you probably wouldn't have believed that shrinking was possible before today either, so you would need a plan just to ask someone for help. You gave her a nod through the microscope to confirm your agreement.
"We're on the same page then," Brenda continued, still loud as ever. "Now, I know you probably have other things on your mind, but as your landlord, we do have to talk about finances for a bit. Obviously, you're in no position to pay rent until this is dealt with, so I'm willing to forget about your rent, at least for the next few months."
While you had indeed not given it any thought so far, you also understood where she was coming from. You were glad Brenda was willing to let you keep your apartment free of charge for now, which would probably eat into her own savings. You were about to show your gratitude, when Brenda's voice filled the room again.
"However, I think it would only be fair if I got something in exchange for everything I'm doing. I understand that in your... condition, there's not really much you can do, but all I really want is for you to provide me some company and entertainment. That shouldn't be too much of an ask considering I saved you and will house you going forward, right?"
Despite the sheer volume of Brenda's voice, you could still make out that she was merely posing a hypothetical question, not truly asking for your opinion. In truth, you had no idea how you were meant to do either of those things at your size, but something told you that Brenda already had some ideas in mind. You didn't want to agree to this, but you hardly had a choice when Brenda had absolute power over you and your safety depended fully on her.
So, reluctantly, you gave her another nod.
"Ah, great, we continue to be on the same page! Why don't we get started right away then? What should we do first..."
