Outside of the town of Ohfun, in the dense forest that surrounded the medieval town, a local magician was looking upon his treasure. It was the last of all the booty he’d gathered over the years and the only thing that he could call his own. After many adventures and near death experiences, the gold that he was looking at was the only thing he had left. It was the result of all his hard work and dedication.
“One measly coin!” He cried, as he held up the last of his money. The young sorcerer was Louie, member of the Magician's Guild in Ohfun, adopted son of the head of the Guild, lush, perv, adventurer and at this moment broke. His long blue hair was kept out of his eyes by a headband, holding back the flowing locks. He wore the traditional cloak that all magicians wore, hiding beneath it a muscular body that was uncommon of someone trained in magic. Louie was more of a fighter then a wizard, relying on his fists more then his magic. When it came to fisticuffs, Louie was a master, but when it came time to use magic, disaster usually followed. His life revolved around two things, drinking and flirting, two things that right now he could literally not afford.
“I can’t believe she took everything!” His current woes were due to one of his teammates, a young thief going by the name Merrill. After their last adventure, a misfired fire spell that he’d cast had accidentally burned most of her clothes off, leaving her a ruined outfit. The momentary happiness Louie got from seeing his beautiful companion’s naked body quickly ended when she beat him within an inch of his life. After he had awoken and fixed all his dislodged bones, Merrill demanded that he pay for a new set of clothes to replace the ones he’d turned to ash. After buying her the most expensive clothes she could find at Ohfun, she then demanded he paid (pay) for dinner to help her get over the loss of her clothes, then she demanded he pay to get her hair fixed, then pay for a manicure, then she just demanded the rest of his money out of pure spite. He had handed over everything, not because he felt guilty, but rather out of fear of Merrill punishing him again for his error. He had left Ohfun, with his last gold coin, hoping to hide it from Merrill’s greedy hands. It was the last of his savings, all he had left to his name.
“I can’t even afford to get hammered at the pub with this!” He cried and hugged the last of his money. It was a miracle that he had been able to save the one coin from Merrill. He’d hidden it in his underwear, where he was certain Merrill would never dare to go. Still, Louie had to wonder how he was able to even hide it from Merrill’s money seeking vision.
“Knowing my luck, the coin’s probably fake,” he muttered as he took a closer look at the coin. The more he thought about it, the more he was certain that the only way he could of gotten away with the coin was if it was fake. Needing to know if he was holding an imitation, Louie decided to use the bite test. The bite test should score the gold because gold is considered a soft metal, if his teeth didn’t leave a mark, he’d know the gold was fake. Opening his mouth, Louie bit into the gold, trying to see how soft it was.
