The basement of Kyon's house was fairly standard with four rooms; one was the utility room, one was a family room, one was a bathroom and the last room was unlike any room Kyon had ever seen. The last room looked out of place. It looked less than a room in a house and more like something from the future or possibly the past. Kyon had ignored the room all of his life; it was just another room as far as Kyon was concerned. It was as if he was forbidden to enter the room.
Kyon, Itsuki and Yuki entered the room. The room was mostly bare without any furniture in it. The walls of the room were adorned with precious stones large and small. The room was twenty by twenty by twenty. The room itself was locked and had been locked since Kyon could remember.
There, in the mysterious room, was a door made out of crystal clearly meant for the crystal key that had been hidden. The crystal door, like the key, was a beautiful thing that shimmered brilliantly and was dazzling to the eye. The door was like any ordinary door in all other aspects.
"So," said Itsuki. "you just remembered this door and you don't know where it leads?"
"It's weirding me out as well" replied Kyon. "I just remember someone telling me to open this door in case of a dire emergency. It just came to me all of a sudden. I can't remember who said that to me or where this door goes; I just know that someone kidnapping Haruhi counts as a dire emergency"
"That I would agree with" said Itsuki.
Yuki was staring at the door. She had her trademark blank face while she was examining the door slowly. At one point she reached out her hand and touched it.
"Open it" said Yuki taking a few steps back.
Kyon walked over to the door and placed the key in the lock. As soon as the key entered the lock, a great tingling sensation ran throughout Kyon's arm and it very quickly moved over his entire body. The tingling sensation grew in intensity by ten fold...and then kept on increasing.
The door had no doorknob or any other handhold to grab it. Once the door had been unlocked it swung wide open to reveal a swirling portal.
"I know this...." mumbled Kyon.
"You saw this....portal before?" asked Itsuki.
Without a word Kyon walked towards the swirling portal and entered it. Itsuki and Yuki hesitated and then walked into the portal.
**
Kyon emerged from the portal into a long corridor. Everything about the corridor felt...wrong somehow. It was as if Kyon wasn't supposed to be here. What gave Kyon this sense of foreboding he couldn't have said. Kyon started to walk down the corridor. He was simply too fascinated by this place to be unnerved by it.
"So," said Itsuki emerging from the portal. "where is this place?"
Yuki exited the portal last. The bookish Yuki looked around with her blank look. After a minute Yuki's trademark expressionless face turned into astonishment.
"That's new" said Itsuki.
Yuki said nothing but started to walk down the hallway after Kyon. Itsuki followed soon after.
The hallway continued on for almost half a mile before entering a grand room with a circular terrace overlooking space. The room had no ceiling but opened up to what looked like three towering figures in silhouette. The three silhouettes were flanked by ten figures also in silhouette. All the silhouettes were clearly the outlines of people, although not all of the silhouettes were plainly not even remotely human.
"We're in some kind of extra-dimensional space" observed Yuki. "technically, we're not in the universe anymore"
"What?" asked Itsuki.
Kyon walked up the short stairway to the wide terrace that surrounded the center of the room. He was looking upwards at the three towering figures in silhouette. Only one of the silhouettes looked remotely familiar to Kyon for some reason.
"So," said Kyon in a loud voice after a few moments of silence. "what is this place?"
Something in the air of the room changed. Perhaps it was the humidity, perhaps it was the heat or it might've been the smell of the somewhat stale air but something in the room definitely changed.
The walls inside the room suddenly disappeared to reveal what looked like outer space but it was unlike any outer space any of the three friends had ever seen; there were trees floating in space and several ring-shaped planets in the far distance. There were also several spaceships that were destroyed. The sight made Kyon and Itsuki gasp.
"High level dimension reaction" said Yuki.
"What's that supposed--" began Itsuki but his voice trailed off as he saw who had appeared in the middle of the room.
The woman had appeared in silence where it might've been more appropriate if she appeared in a more dramatic fashion with neon signs proclaiming her name.
The woman had red crab-like hair and was dressed in a purple robe. She looked at Kyon before looking over at Yuki and Itsuki.
Yuki stepped away in an uncharacteristic fashion for her. She had a surprised look on her face. Itsuki still had that trademark smirk plastered on his face.
"This is certainly a surprise" said the woman as she surveyed the three that were there.
"Who're you?" asked Kyon.
"I can't identify her" said Yuki.
"Of course you can't identify me--" said the woman turning to face Yuki. Her eyes went wide. "well well! Today keeps on getting more interesting"
"Yeah, yeah" said Kyon. "just who are you?"
"Eh?" asked the woman. "your memory should've returned by now"
"What are you--?" asked Kyon and that's when Kyon received a jolt throughout his body. The jolt of electricity was quickly followed by what could only be described as a tingling in his head. The jolt caused him to collapse on the floor.
"What's happening to him?" asked Itsuki.
"His memories are coming back" said the woman.
For several moments, Kyon stayed down on the floor. The woman with the emerald green eyes studied Kyon for a long silent moment.
Kyon sat bold upright from the floor and slowly climbed to his feet.
"Alright, hold on" said Kyon after looking all around the room. "you mean I'm a....god and I didn't even know it?!"
"You're a what now?" asked Itsuki.
"Your friend is the Administrator of this dimension" said the woman.
"Administrator KZ12" said Kyon. "doesn't exactly roll off the tongue"
"I'm assuming that something brought--" started the woman. Her voice trailed off when Kyon had snapped his fingers and a PlayStation 5 had appeared in his hands.
"Er...what?" asked the woman totally nonplussed with eyes wide.
"Do you have any idea how hard is it to get one of these at a fair price?" asked Kyon. "goddamned scalpers"
"Who is this woman?" asked Itsuki.
"Lady Washu" said Kyon waving a hand impatiently.
"Washu?" asked Yuki. "as in Washu of the Choushin?"
"Choushin?" asked Itsuki.
"Washu and her sisters created the multiverse" said Kyon. "they're beings of the highest order"
"That explains why we're not in normal space" said Yuki.
"What do you mean?" asked Itsuki.
"The Choushin are so powerful that they kind of...break reality if they're not extremely careful" said Kyon. "normal space might as well be papier-mâché to them"
Washu cleared her throat. "Report, Administrator"
"Right, right" said Kyon. "I'm afraid that Haruhi has been kidnapped"
"Who by?" asked Washu.
"I think you know who by" came a new voice. All heads turned towards the new voice. The speaker was that of a green-tilted skinned person.
"Zamasu" said Washu. "how did you get here?"
Zamasu almost crowed at Washu. "Emergency Dimensional Transport brought us here"
"That's impossible!" snapped Kyon. "this entire dimension was locked off"
"Nevertheless," replied Zamasu. "a few of my associates made it through but not me. The lock was meant to prevent gods from entering here where a certain little girl named Haruhi was hiding out"
