"Who wants to meet us?" asked Naota as he and Mina started to follow LadyDevimon. The female digimon swung her hips as she walked past tables. Naota's eye seem to be drawn to the leather-clad rear end of LadyDevimon. It took Naota a moment to shake his head and he focused his attention elsewhere.
The Infernal Tavern served both food and alcoholic drinks judging by the plates of food on the tables. Those patrons that were under drinking age had the same tattoo that was now on the hands of Naota and Mina which identified them as being under twenty-one years of age. Naota was surprised at the number of underage patrons at the tavern. There were maybe ten underage patrons that Naota saw.
LadyDevimon was leading the pair to what looked like a corridor.
"It seems that the newest member of The Consortium has caught the attention of Lady Hild" said LadyDevimon. "Why I cannot say"
"How does Hild know about Haruko?" asked Mina.
LadyDevimon glanced behind herself as she walked. In an icy voice she said, "Lady Hild has her ways"
The corridor that LadyDevimon entered was a long one. Naota and Mina quickly followed. The corridor was lined with doors that was labeled with "Private". The walls of the corridor was made out of polished dark stone that looked to be obsidian.
The trio walked for a while under they came to an elevator lobby. There was a woman waiting for an elevator with long black hair that cane down to her ankles. As Naota, Mina and LadyDevimon entered the small lobby the dark-haired woman looked around.
The black-haired woman was wearing tattered clothing that left little to the imagination. The woman apparently didn't have any modesty for she made no attempt to cover herself up. The woman had golden eyes and one arm of the woman was all bandaged up. A nametag on her shirt identified her as " Velvet Crowe - The Hellmasters". LadyDevimon had a similar nametag on her outfit.
"Ah, Lady Velvet" said LadyDevimon. "You're not usually seen down here"
"I was in charge of the bouncers while you were gone" said Velvet. "Hild seems to think I need to interact more with the patrons"
One of the elevators opened and the small group entered the elevator. LadyDevimon reached down and pulled out a key from her belt. The digimon placed the key into a panel that covered a button that required a key to open. She unlocked the panel and pressed the button underneath. The doors to the elevator closed and started to ascend.
"Why am I here?" asked Mina after a short pause. "If Lady Hild wanted to lure out Haruko why go after me?"
"Very perceptive" said LadyDevimon in a pleased tone. "I was told to bring Naota without a witness to see what happened to him. You saw me grabbing little Naota here, so I had no choice but to grab you as well"
"Sooner or later, Haruko will come to get me" said Naota.
The doors to the elevator opened up to an elevator lobby. The lobby had a white-haired man in it that was reading a book. As the doors to the elevator opened, the man placed the book into an unseen pocket into the suit he was wearing.
The man looked at everyone in the elevator before wordlessly stepping aside. The group exited the elevator and walked past the white-haired man. The hair of the man was slightly unkempt.
"You're leaving so soon, Anat'araka?" asked LadyDevimon.
"I have other business to attend too" said Anat'araka in an even voice. The man entered the elevator and the doors closed behind him.
"Who was that?" asked Mina.
"Nobody" said Velvet.
The group walked down a long corridor that ended with a pair of double doors. There were words engraved on each door. The words were written in what looked like Latin.
"That's comforting" said Mina, nodding at the words.
"You can understand that?" asked Naota.
"I took a crash course in Latin when I was exploring Washu's lab after I was revived" said Mina. "I ran into some sort of learning machine that started to teach me some Latin before I learned how to turn it off"
LadyDevimon opened the double doors to reveal a huge circular room. The room was half the length of a football field at least, maybe a little smaller. There were ten chairs on a raised dias that wrapped around the room. Five chairs had people sitting in them. At the highest chair of them all sat a woman with tanned skin with white hair that wore an incredible amount of jewelry.
All of the five was watching a fight between bare-chested men that was taking place in the middle of the room. It was a fist fight for the most part with some kicks thrown in here and there.
"Another fight between slaves" said Velvet as she walked to her own chair. LadyDevimon, Mina and Naota all stopped to watch the fight.
"I don't like this" whispered Mina to Naota.
"I don't either" replied Naota in a low voice. "What were those words on the doors?"
Mina sighed before she answered, "Abandon hope, all ye who enter here"
The fist fight lasted two minutes with a particularly wild haymaker that connected. The man with the red hair went down hard, clearly knocked unconscious. The other fighter glanced at LadyDevimon's group before turning to face the six seated figures. The winner bowed low to the six seated figures.
"Well done" said the female with all the jewelry. "You've just won your freedom, Mr. 34"
"I am greatful, Mistress Hild" said the winning slave.
"I'll deal with you within the hour" said Hild to Mr. 34. "Wait for me in my bedchamber. There, I will tear up the contract you have with us"
Mr. 34 bowed again and hurried out of the room.
LadyDevimon walked forward with Naota and Mina. "Lady Hild, I've brought you the one you sent me to get"
Hild stood up from the chair and walked toward Naota and Mina. It was very clear that Hild radiated with power like heat from a furnace. The air around her hummed with an overwhelming sense of power...and evil. A sense of utter dread came over both Naota and Mina as Hild approached.
Soon enough, Hild came right up to Naota.
"Nice to meet you two" said Hild.
"What business do you have with these mortals, Hild?" asked a voice. The voice came from a normal-looking man with black spiky hair.
"I said that this Haruko has caught my attention" said Hild without looking at the man who had spoken. "She cares for this one"
The man who had spoken stood up from the chair and walked towards Naota and Mina.
The nametag identified the man as "Hiei -- The Hellmasters"
Hiei walked right up to Naota and Mina and examined them closely before turning to Hild and asked, "But you haven't yet explained just why this Haruko has captured your interest?"
Hild let the silence hang in the air for a moment before answering, "That's for me to know, Hiei"
Hiei sighed and turned his attention to Naota and Mina. "Allow me to introduce you two to The Hellmasters, the owners of this place"
Mina and Naota were introduced to the seven members of The Hellmasters that were in the room:
Hild
Hiei
Velvet Crowe
LadyDevimon
Jedah Dohma
Marller
Scanty
"And the three others that aren't here are: Kneesocks, Morrigan, and Ainz Ooal Gown" said Hiei.
