Naota found himself in a classroom. He was seated in the first seat of the fifth row of desks. This classroom was different from the ones at his old school.
What made this classroom different were the four Corinthian columns at each corner. Each of the columns were carved with the likeness of Haruko. Each carving was different but they were undeniably Haruko. Each column depicted Haruko in a different way. One carving was that of the "hippie" version complete with the tie-dyed shirt and flared bellbuttoms and the tinted glasses. The carving had a joint in its mouth.
Before Naota could examine the other depictions of Haruko on the other columns the door to the classroom opened and Haruko walked in.
Haruko was wearing a charcoal black suit jacket with a tie that looked like her bass guitar. She wore a white button up shirt under the suit. She was also wearing dark blue pants. She sported a huge pregnant belly and Naota experienced something akin to double vision as he saw himself from what would have been from Haruko's point of view with his normal vision. The double vision only lasted for ten seconds tops.
Haruko walked to the teacher's desk which was piled high with paperwork. Haruko glanced at all the paperwork on the desk and swept it all off the desk with a flourish. Haruko then dusted off the chair and sat down in it. She placed her legs up on the desk and leaned back in the chair and fixed her gaze at Naota through steepled fingers.
"Aren't I a bit old for school?" asked Naota.
Haruko regarded Naota with a level look. "You're never too old to learn"
"What am I learning here?"
Haruko gave Naota a toothy grin. "Glad to hear you ask!"
Haruko climbed off of the chair and went to the chalkboard. While Naota saw no chalk in evidence anywhere in the room, Haruko wrote words on the chalkboard seemingly with her fingers. Gods 101 were the words that she wrote.
"Now," said Haruko spinning on her heel to face Naota. "Since we're in the presence of several gods now, and have joined The Consortium, I thought I might tell you a little about gods. I won't tell you everything of course since you wouldn't be able to comprehend it all"
"I'm not stupid" said Naota rolling his eyes.
"It isn't a question of intelligence" said Haruko. "Your mind just can't deal with certain stuff that's way beyond your comprehension. For example--" here, Haruko wrote something on the chalkboard that looked like a sigil. The sigil consisted of one big circle filled with lines of varying lengths and what looked to be an unknown letter to Naota.
"Now you can't read that can ya?" asked Haruko.
Naota shook his head no.
"I could say what this symbol means out loud and you still wouldn't be able to comprehend it" said Haruko. "It's simply beyond human comprehension"
"Isn't that the symbol I saw on top of that door earlier?" asked Naota.
"No but it's fairly similar" said Haruko. She erased the symbol with a lazy wave of her hand. Haruko then clapped her hands several times and chalk dust filled the surrounding air as if she was cleaning erasers even though she had no chalk in her hands. Naota just stared.
"There are many classifications of gods" said Haruko. " Some gods are more powerful than others. I'm a goddess but that doesn't mean I'm all-powerful. My $%#+@------err, sorry---my sphere of influence is that of music and musical instruments"
When Haruko had said "$%#+@" , all that Naota heard were garbled words.
"Now I have a secondary sphere of influence of drugs and I can produce any kind of drugs both legal and otherwise" said Haruko. "As far as gods go I am quite low on the totem pole....at least when compared to the other gods of The Consortium save for the one known as Yato"
Haruko paused to clear her throat before she continued. "All gods require both belief and worship in order to exist. Worship can come in different forms. There was a time that in order to get the attention of a God you had to sacrifice an animal or even a human but that's not the only way. Of course worshipping can mean sacrificing a life but that's fallen out of style with you mortals for some reason"
"So...." said Naota. "As long as people believe and worship a god that God continues to exist? Then how did you came to be?"
"People just started to believe in music they were peforming" said Haruko. "When a person believes in something hard enough that belief can cause a god to manifest"
Naota nodded. But then he frowned. "That doesn't explain how a god would be able to create the universe though. After all there would be nobody to believe in a God when there was nobody ---" Haruko hushed Naota by covering his mouth with a hand.
"There are more things in heaven and earth than there are dreamt in your philosophy" said Haruko.
"A Shakespeare quote" came a new voice.
Both Haruko and Naota jumped at the new voice. Someone else had entered the room. It was Jinyu.
