Haruko and Naota rode out of Mabase with little fanfare. Naota glanced aside as the vespa rocketed pass a newspaper stand in which the headline "Re-elect Mayor Haruko" caught Naota's eye.
"You were mayor?!" asked Naota.
"Until someone deposed me" said Haruko. "I never found out who it was"
"I can't imagine you being mayor" said Naota.
"It was fun while it lasted" said Haruko. "Maybe I'll tell you all about it someday" after a thoughtful pause she added "do me a favor and try not to act like a inbred bumpkin while we're out in the world"
"I'm not inbred" said Naota.
"You sleep with your mother" said Haruko.
"Yeah but you're a goddess and deities are into incestuous relationships" said Naota.
Haruko cackled at that as the vespa reached 350mph minimum.
It was nearly two hours later and the two were in the middle of nowhere.
"I'm starving" said Naota.
"So am I" said Haruko.
As if on cue a restaurant came into view. It was a big brick building. The restaurant looked to be a five-star restaurant....at least that was the vibe that Naota had. He couldn't say for sure what gave him that impression just by looking at just the exterior of the place.
The vespa pulled into the sizable parking lot. As it did Naota felt as if he were entering some kind of a threshold. It was as if the restaurant existed in another dimension. Haruko must've felt the same sensation that Naota did for she shivered ever so slightly.
The name of the restaurant was The Dimensional Cafe.
"Interesting...." said Haruko as she parked the vespa somewhat close to the entrance.
"Did we just cross over into another world?" asked Naota.
"Seems like it" said Haruko
The pair then made their way into the cafe. Once they were in the cafe Naota gasped as the interior was much more bigger than the exterior had been. The inside could easily fit a couple of city blocks in it!
"Welcome to the Dimensional Cafe" said a female greeter with reddish hair. "Where people from different dimensions meet and have a meal. Fighting is strictly forbidden by order of the management"
"Okay then" said Haruko. "We just want to eat"
"Very well" said the greeter. "Follow me"
The greeter led Haruko and Naota out of the lobby and into the main dining area which was vast. The greeter led them to a booth.
"Your waiter will be right with you" said the greeter and then walked off.
"This place looks awfully expensive" said Naota.
"Money is no object" said Haruko. "I managed to embezzle lots of cash while in office"
Naota was about to say something when a shout startled him.
"HEY, CHINLISH! STOP HOGGING THE CHINESE BUFFET YOU FAT BITCH!"
The shout came from the booth directly besides their booth. A red-haired woman with tattoos on her arm had shouted. Besides her sat a man wearing a white polo shirt with a green tie looking nervous while he smoked a cigarette.
"Take it easy, Revy" said a blond-haired man wearing a Hawaiian shirt.
"Yeah" said Haruko. "Keep it down"
The woman called Revy slowly turned to face Haruko and glared. "Mind your own fucking businesses!" Revy yelled.
"Got a potty mouth eh?" asked Haruko.
"Excuse me" came a new voice. "Have you seen a student with blue hair?"
Naota turned to the voice to discover that the voice belonged to a tall......octopus with yellow skin. The octopus was smiling with seemed unnatural to Naota. Not to mention a tad bit creepy.
"We just got here so no" said Naota to the octopus.
"Oh dear" said the octopus. "Well thanks anyway" with that the octopus walked off.
"Who the fuck was that?" asked Revy who had witnessed the exchange.
"More like 'what'" said Haruko who was looking in the direction that the octopus went.
