Aisha had learned to like Terran food since she came to live with Gene and Jim. As a Ctarl-Ctarl, Aisha preferred living food but she had grown to like Terran food as well as Terran-style cooking. Whenever she ate Terran food she tended to gorge herself, eating enough food for at least ten Terrans. Gene and the others were always impressed by the sheer amount of food that Aisha could eat. Jim especially seemed to be enthralled whenever Aisha ate Terran food. It was bordering on reverence by the looks Jim gave Aisha when she ate vast amounts of food. Aisha was greatly amused by this and so she made a habit out of gorging herself on Terran food to the point where her stomach would distend.
Aisha ate food in the cafeteria until she was positivity fat. She must've eaten enough food for ten Terrans. As a result, Aisha sported a huge belly which was contained by her clothing. Aisha usually ate that much for comfort. She had always found comfort by eating even before she met Jim and Gene. Aisha never grew fat because of her active lifestyle.
Aisha walked out of the cafeteria with a considerable stomach. She received stares due to her distended belly as she walked back to Jim's room. One Terran teenager even ran into a wall due to his staring at Aisha and her bigger belly, which made Aisha snort with laughter.
When Aisha entered Jim's room she found that all were asleep save for Suzuka. Suzuka seemed to be in a light slumber because the assassin had woken when Aisha entered the room. Aisha sat down in a chair next to Gene who had fallen asleep reading a lewd magazine.
"Did you find anything at the sweat shop?" asked Aisha. She was understandably curious about the sweat shop seeing as how Aisha and Jim left abruptly.
"They were selling off kids as slaves" said Suzuka. "We found price lists and a list of customers"
"Is that all?"
Suzuka shrugged. "We didn't find much else. There were a total of seventy children ready to be sold by the highest bidder. We found no evidence of what they were forcing the children to do....of course that doesn't mean anything"
" Hmmm" said Aisha thoughtfully. "Just a slave market eh?"
" That's all we saw" said Suzuka.
"Maybe that orphan John could tell us more" said Aisha.
"I just called Melfina to check up on her" said Suzuka. " She says that John left soon after hearing the news of that possible lottery on the news. She tried to stop him but John managed to get away"
"That seems reckless" said Aisha.
"Yeah" said Suzuka.
* *************
Amanda Konkon walked out of the television station followed by the manager of the TV station, a Terran in her late 40s.
"I hope that lottery doesn't happen" said the Terran. Both were waiting for the limousine that would take Amanda back to the Ctarl-Ctarl embassy. Amanda was the Ctarl-Ctarl ambassador on Heifong. It had been Amanda that had suggested the lottery which had been reported earlier in the evening .
"I hesitated to share the suggestion for as long as I could" said Amanda. "My superiors insisted that I should inform the local TV stations about the suggestion of the lottery. I don't like the idea any more than you do. Unlike others of my kind, I actually have some Terran friends that I would hate to see being a meal for one of my race"
"I'm surprised that the ambassador herself is dealing with this personally" said the Terran. " I would've thought that you were way too busy to be bothered by overpopulation"
"I was ordered to share this news" said Amanda shrugging. "It goes to show you how important this issue is"
A limousine pulled up and Amanda got in. The limousine drove off.
Amanda was sitting in the backseat. The backseat was big enough for twenty people to sit comfortably.
"What if this lottery is actually approved?" asked Jordan one of the Terran workers at the embassy. Jordan was, in fact, one of Amanda's aides. Jordan was in his early 20s, making him one of the youngest Terrans that Amanda knew. "I don't wanna be eaten by you or your staff"
"Don't worry" said Amanda. "It's not as if the lottery is going to be implemented tomorrow or the day after. I suspect it'll be months until the lottery is implemented, if at all"
Jordan made a noncommittal sound.
Silence hung in the limousine for a handful of moments. Amanda seemed to be lost in thought and Jordan returned his attention to the handheld device he had. Sounds of gameplay came from the device.
"Did you get the information I requested this morning?" asked Amanda.
"Yeah" said Jordan, handing Amanda a printout of names. "That's all the Ctarl-Ctarl that live on Heifong"
Amanda looked over the printout and whistled. "There's this many?"
" Yeah, I did find that odd" said Jordan. "I thought Ctarl-Ctarl were restricted to the home planet"
Amanda was about to answer when a name on the printout caught her attention. She read the name aloud: "Aisha Clanclan"
"That name sounds familiar...." said Jordan.
" She was the ambassador before I was" said Amanda. "She got busted for not turning in several fugitives of the empire. So.....she ended up on Heifong"
"She works for a company called Starwind and Hawking Enterprises" said Jordan. " They have made a name for themselves in this planet. They'll do any job it seems"
Amanda looked at Jordan. "How do you know where she works?"
" I took the liberty of looking up where each Ctarl-Ctarl on Heifong lives at and their workplace " said Jordan. "They're on the printout"
Amanda looked more closely at the printout. "I see"
"Why did you want to know how many Ctarl-Ctarl were on this planet?"
"I thought that would be obvious" said Amanda. "If and when this lottery gets implemented, it would be good to know where to send....err...the meals. Also, I think it would be a good idea to consult with other Ctarl-Ctarls on the matter"
