Feeding Jet Tiny Way Of Life chapter 17 by copier · original author: matheson

Mandy looks down at Jetty-doll, catching him halfway up her shirt again. She wonders why he keeps trying to climb up. He probably hasn't had anything good to eat in a while, she guesses. Poor little guy. She is about to skirt some eggs off the table for him when she gets a better idea. She looks around. Her mother is digging into her food, eyeballing the doorway occasionally, while her sister, Natalie, is busy texting. Perfect, she decides, and lifts Jetty-doll up. Quickly and quietly, she stuffs him into the pile of eggs on her plate. She then uses her fork to tuck him further in to make sure he is buried and out of sight. Everything but his face is covered. She doesn't think anyone else can see him but her.

That's when she notices Jenny staring. She must have been watching the whole time. Mandy looks at her, gauging her reaction. A wave of relief washes over her when she sees her smile and wink. She turns back to Jetty-doll. He's busy chomping down on her eggs. He looks adorable, happily stealing her food like that. She gently nudges him with a fork while smiling, as if to say: 'Hey, that's mine!.' He almost giggles as the fork pokes him.

Mandy tries to be more playful, using her fork to tickle him. She has to keep reburying him with more eggs so no one notices as spazzes out in silent laughter. She stops every once and a while to see if anyone noticed, but they are all busy eating.

Jenny finishes her plate first. Everyone else, with the exception of Mandy, is getting close when Mandy's father walks in. He speedwalks by the table, as if in panic. Mandy focuses her attention on him. He's dressed up like he always is when he goes to work. "I thought it was your off day!?" she asks, almost yelling. "They called me in", he grunts unhappily as he grabs the cup of coffee waiting for him under the keurig. Mandy can see her mother getting visibly upset when he leaves the room as quickly as he entered. The only sound after that is the jingle of keys, and the door opening then closing.

It was already quiet at the table before, but now things felt awkward. Mandy decides to focus on eating her hash browns. A few minutes later, the doorbell rings breaks the tension.

Angela walks up the steps towards the door. She spent the entire day yesterday all by herself, no thanks to Steve. She knows that his dumb little 'Secret Survival Training' sessions with Jet are important to him, but she'd wish he'd at least leave a note or something. She always gets worried sick when they disappear for days without even saying anything. It irritated her to think about it.

As she rings the doorbell, Mandy's mother answers. She looks aggravated initially, but changes to a smile right away. "Oh! Hi, Angela! Come on in", she says. Angela doesn't make it three feet inside before Jenny runs into the room and hugs her legs. "Mommy!" she squeals in delight. "Hi, sweetie. Did you have fun with Mandy's family?" "Uh-huh! It was tons of fun, we got to-". Jenny's mother interrupts her, "that's nice, sweetie. We need to hurry up and get going, though. We have a big day ahead!" Jenny looks confused. "Where are we going?", she asks curiously. "We're going to have our first ever girl day", Angela replies, excited. "What about Daddy-doll and Jet? Can they come, too?" Jenny asks while looking towards the kitchen. Angela waves her hand dismissively, "Let's not talk about them, okay? They'll be fine. They always come back on their own in a few days. Besides, it wouldn't be girl day if they came with us." Jenny looks sad. She tries to cheer her up. "Come on, let's go get some ice cream!" she says as she grabs her daughter's hand and leads her towards the door. Before they leave, Jenny suddenly breaks her grip. Angela turns to see her run over and give her little friend a big hug. She awes at the cute sight.

~~~~~
Mandy listens to Jenny and her mommy talk. She can't believe Jenny's mom is just going to leave Jetty-doll and daddy-doll here. When Jenny runs over and gives her a big hug, she whispers into her ear: "Have fun with my dollies, okay?" Mandy nods. Jenny then turns around and runs out the front door, screaming: "yay! Ice Cream!"
Mandy is about to head back into the kitchen when she hears something rustling behind her. She turns to find her mommy digging through her purse on the table. She had a coat on like she was leaving, too! "Where are you going, mommy?" she asks. "Mommy has some errands to run, baby", she replies. She yanks out her keys and dangles them victoriously in her hand. She then shouts into the kitchen. "Natalie! You watch your sister, yeah?" "Yeah. Whatever!" Her sister shouts back. Her mother then leans down and kisses her on the forehead, "you be good, honey."
Within seconds, she's out the door as well. Mandy stands there for a minute, overwhelmed by the situation. Everyone left so fast. She's brought back to reality hears a clinking sound coming from the kitchen. That's when she remembers Jet. She just left him there in the eggs.
She rushes back to find...
