What the hell, you think. Maybe it's because you're tired, maybe it's because this is probably your last, best chance at winning back the cat and mouse game. Maybe you just don't want to be sat on anymore. Either way, you turn and sprint over to the nightstand, vaulting off of one of the slipper-boots lined up around it to grab the banister and climb.
Gripping around the corner of the piece with your limbs on, you start to scale it with remarkable speed, making it almost halfway up before Sora even has time to let out a surprised gasp. And then...
You're barely about two-thirds of the way up to the top when Sora's face appears above you, blocking out the light, following a series of rapid thumps behind. "Hey, you're pretty fast at that, huh, mousey?" She comments, looking slightly impressed at your progress as she shuffles closer in on her knees, straddling the corner of the nightstand with her thighs. "And where did ya think you were gonna go from here? I could just sit down on you when you get to the top, y'know..."
As she says this, you look down to see her pushing the slipper you'd jumped off from slightly over to the side, so that now the open leg of the fuzzy boot sits right below you. If you lose your grip or let go here, you'll land right inside the heel section of the slipper, and then it'd be trivial for Sora to trap you from there. Meanwhile, she's already set up and waiting to pin you if you climb up to the top.
Come to think of it, she wouldn't exactly have trouble pinning you in place right where you are now, either.
...why did you think this plan would work, again?
There is one thing that could provide a possible escape for you, however. In moving the boot, Sora created a tiny gap in the wall of footwear that used to block off the nightstand's underside entirely. If you jump to the side, and hit the slipper close enough to the toe end... you might, just maybe, be able to recover and dash under the crack before she gets you.
But, there's a catch. One of the nightstand's drawers is slightly open, below you; just enough that you can make out what looks like rolls of socks through the crack. Here's the problem: If you jump aside too far, you'll either hit the drawer, or fall inside. If you don't jump far enough, you'll fall into the boot instead...
"Well, what now mousey?"
As you're thinking this over, Sora starts taunting you, teasingly, from above. "Kitty's got you right where she wants ya. I mean, she will soon *teehee*. Which means you're going on a nice trip down to my tummy where you belong, huh?" She jokes, sitting up and rubbing her belly right behind you.
You start climbing again, rather than answer, and she purrs. "Mmm.... bet you'll feel right at home in there, right? All safe and warm and cozy with all the rest of kitty's treats. The perfect place for little mouseys~..." She sits back a bit, and you lose sight of her head as she leans down in behind you.
"Why don't you just give up running and hop on in? If ya do, I promise I'll make it quick. I'll even let you pick which way you go down... head or feet first~. Isn't that nice? Here, Ahhhhh..."
The hot, damp air washes over you from behind, as Sora opens her mouth up wide, once again, inviting you to jump inside it. Though her booming voice is close enough that you can feel the vibrations running through your chest, you do your best to ignore it, and move to keep climbing... and then, without warning, your hand slips.
The condensation! You realize, hugging tight to the corner of the nightstand with your arms and legs, and watching the wooden surface fog up around you from Sora's breath. At the same time, she notices it too, and giggles.
"Ahhhhhhh!"
Sora keeps breathing on you steadily, watching beads of liquid slowly form up, threatening to drop down onto your clinging figure as they swell in size. It seems like she's caught up in a new game of her own, you realize. In fact, she may have completely forgotten about the timer, now that she's focused on trying to knock you off the nightstand with her breath.
You're not sure where it sits right now yourself, but if you can stall for another minute or two by holding on, maybe you'll end up winning by default before she realizes it?
On the other hand, now that climbing any more has become completely out of the question, maybe you should work up the nerve to go for that jump to the floor. The longer you wait, the more tired out you become, and the less chance you'll have of making the jump properly...
Hell, maybe you should just give up and get it over with. The way she'd said she would 'make it quick' if you did, seemed to imply that she'd mess around first otherwise. Kitty playing with her food, she'd probably call it.
If you're going to end up with her eating you either way, you'd at least rather it be in time to beat her breakfast to the other side... preferably by a comfortable margin.
Right?
