Here's one way to look at it: No matter what you decided to do at this point, there was at least a chance Sora would pick up on your trail. And when that finally happened, did you want her to follow that trail towards you, or away from you?
That was your thinking, at least, when you decided to go back and start shimmying your way up one of the kitchen chairs. You'd figured it would be a perfectly manageable climb, and while that turned out to be true, you're still having trouble getting it done very quickly. It's just the nature of the problem; your small arms and legs can only reach so far around the chair leg, and the crust of sugar on you counterintuitively does more to hurt your gripping power than help you stick, being completely dry and powdery on the outside. All that said, you can only afford to move upwards a little bit at a time, unable to maintain your grasp on the chair leg if any of your arms or legs let go of it for more than an instant...
Anyway, the second half of the chair is easier, and from there it's a quick hop back onto the table. Turning to survey your handiwork, you note with satisfaction that the trail you've left behind doesn't make it visibly obvious that you'd been climbing up, not down, when you scaled the kitchen chair. But that satisfaction disappears instantly, when you look up and see the clock! You've probably got less than twenty minutes left to finish up here, if you're assuming your soon-to-be huntress takes the whole hour to finish her homework.
You rush to pick up the remains of your old trail from the table, the one you'd made when you first walked to the table edge and jumped off of it to the floor. Scrambling back and forth to gather up the dusty bits of sugar, and go back and dump them in the bowl, you finish just as you start to hear booming footsteps approaching the kitchen from outside!
With a last mad dash, you leap headfirst into the sugar bowl and quickly bury yourself in the sand-like substance, just as Sora walks in pretending to talk to herself in cheerful tones. "Yawnn~ I sure am hungry today. Being a hardworking kitty, who keeps the house safe from intruders is- oh, what's this~?" She says coyly, facing the kitchen table now full of sugar tracks, "did some little mousey come in here and get carried away with our sugar bowl? Nyow, nyow! Guess I'll have to track him downnn~!" She sings out playfully, while you hold your breath and try to keep still as physically possible...
