"I have a project in science class about the atmosphere. I need you to take temperatures at different heights for me..." Tulip takes some time explaining the whole plan to you. She is planning to attach you to a balloon with a thermometer and have you scrawl different readings as you rise in the air.
It's a rather strange request, but it's a thousand times better than what you'll be going through otherwise. You agree and she throws you up shortly after.
Some time later the apparatus is set up. Tulip decided (on your request) to use multiple balloons and attach them to a basket which would hold you, the thermometer, a watch, some toothpicks, and something to write on. She drags everything out into the front yard and unceremoniously lets you go. You find it a bit curious and wonder if she was just playing a prank on you or not. You keep your word though and take a temperature reading every thirty seconds.
After a while you look around and aren't even sure if you are rising anymore. You're pretty sure you've done more than your part and prepare to descend. You grab a toothpick and launch it at one of the balloons above. The balloon pops, but to your horror the balloons reorienting themselves shakes the basket and you fall out.
You scream and scream until you are out of breath. The wind is rushing past you so fast that tears are being ripped from your eyes. You can't even hear yourself screaming as the wind screams in your ears. "This is it", you think to yourself. "This is the end..."
You think back on your life as you fall for another minute. The ground, which at first felt so far, is starting to creep up and soon feels as if it is rushing at you.
You have but precious seconds left. Your body tenses up and you scream as you fall...
