Bright white light floods the fridge, someone has opened the door. As your eyes adjust you see a hand reaching in and grabbing your container. You are pulled out of the fridge and placed on the counter. The hand pries open the container and you get a full view of Tulip’s vicious smile. “How was your morning, bug?” she asks, making sure to emphasize the bug part. You get a good look at her for a moment before responding with “… cold.”
The past few hours had been excruciating. All you could do was wait and stare outward at the fuzzy darkness through the container walls. The cold of the fridge had solidified the honey, freezing you into place. The way your body froze made you feel a bit like Han Solo, trapped in carbonite. Luckily, thanks to Tulip sucking the honey off of your head earlier, you could at least move that around. The only good part of the whole experience was that you were able to eat some of the pancake above you, though you’d never tell Tulip that.
“Well then, let’s warm you up!” Tulip cheers, and turns on the stove top. She grabs a pan from the cupboard and starts buttering it up. ’Oh god!’, you think to yourself. ’She’s going to use the stove to heat me up!’ This might not be so terrifying if you didn’t know about the rest of Tulip’s cooking career. Any time she would cook, you’d be force to try to eat her… concoctions. She seemed to have a knack for turning food into charcoal.
She places the pancakes (and you) down into the pan. You can’t see her from the angle you are at, but you shout in protest anyways. “Please don’t! Just let me out! You can eat me right now if you want!” you plead. You hear a giggle from behind you, followed by Tulip saying “Ew! Then you’d be all cold and icky.” You mentally facepalm and think ’this girl’s logic…’
She swivels the pancakes around for a bit, but you quickly lose her attention and she walks away. You can’t hear what she’s doing due to the butter crackling nearby. The pancake below you begins to heat up and, thankfully, so does the honey. You can finally wiggle your limbs slightly. It’s not very much but it still feels like stretching after being stuck in place for so long.
The pancake below you starts to get too hot and you scream out, “Hey!!!! You’re going to burn me!” Tulip rushes over with a spatula and flips the pancakes over. “Oops, sorry about that.” she says. Before the next pancake overheats, you proactively shout “Okay! I’m done!” It’s only after you say it do you realize that you actually just admitted to being food.
Tulip laughs at this and scoops the pancakes out of the pan, dropping them onto a plate. “We make a pretty team, you know. I’m going to have to use you every time I cook something!” You cock an eyebrow at her and say “Yeah, too bad I’ll only last a few meals… you know… before I burn to death.” She laughs and picks up the plate.
Tulip moves over to the table and sets down the plate. Looking out of your pancake prison you see…
