At the foot of the mountain where they just came from. They noticed an old woman walking by. She smiled when she noticed the two.
"Oh this is a rare sight. Not everyday that you see a mother and daughter around here." The old woman said with a smile.
"Uh..no... we're cousins." Yayoi answered blantly. Eiko coughed.
"We just came from the shrine of the children." Eiko followed up.
"Are you wanting children?" Then it is a mistake to make an offering." The old woman said seriously.
Both Yayoi and Eiko looked at each other.
"That shrine was not meant for women or couples seeking to have children. It is to grant peace to the many children who were abandoned." The old woman explained.
"Why is that, grandma?" Yayoi asked. Curious.
"Their families left them there to starve and die to lessen the mouths they need to feed." The old woman answered.
"That's horrible!" Eiko gasped.
"I hope you didn't make an offering there. It is not a blessing you'd want from that shrine." The old woman explained more.
"Why? I thought the shrine was to bless couples needing a baby." Eiko said. "That's what I heard."
Yayoi was in deep thought when Eiko looked at her.
"No. The shrine was built to pay respects to the resentment and bitterness of the abandoned children. Stay away from that shrine if possible. Who knows what may happen to you." The old woman warned the two.
"Is it relation to the missing women?" Yayoi asked.
"It would seem so. We do not know what happens when an offering is made to the shrine. Police have searched but couldn't find them." The old woman said.
She bowed and began to walk on ahead. Leaving the two to think.
"Hmmmm..makes perfect sense there would be a lingering spirit here. Especially one with resentment in them." Yayoi said as she looked day Eiko who somewhat turned pale.
"What is it, Eiko?" Yayoi asked in concern.
"What? Oh it's nothing! Let's go back and see if we can find that spirit! Are you going to capture it?" Eiko said nervously.
Yayoi nodded, "If not exorcise it! Hopefully we can find out what happened to the missing women who went here."
"Let's ghost!" They both said in unison.
"Hopefully we can exorcise the spirit here. That way nothing happens to me." Eiko thought as she sighed. Relaxing herself as she wished Keitaro was here but had tutoring classes since Ai was absent for so long.
They walk back to the trail leading to the shrine of wayside children.
