While Gatomon was grumbling in Kari and Tai's room, Kari decided to ask one of the boys about this eating thing. She would ask her brother Tai but he was at a soccer game, and he had taken Agumon with him. The thought about Gatomon eating that roast whole brought more questions to Kari's mind. If she could eat like a digimon because she was in the digital world, did that mean she could eat something that was bigger than her? Kari thought about who to go to and ask this question and lots of other questions she had. Only one person would know all about digimon and the digital world; Izzy. Izzy was by far the smartest of the DigiDestined and it was he who discovered that the digital world was, in fact, made out of missing data from the real world. It was approaching evening, and Kari walked faster to get to Izzy's place before he had his dinner.
When she reached Izzy's apartment, it was Izzy himself who answered the door.
"Kari?" asked Izzy. "this is a surprise. What brings you here?"
"I need to ask you something" said Kari.
"Sure thing" said Izzy.
The two of them entered Izzy's room, where Tentomon was watching the small TV in Izzy's room. Tentomon looked around at Izzy and Kari when the two entered.
"Izzy, it's almost time for dinner" called out his mother. "and Kari can join us for dinner if she wants"
"Thanks" yelled back Kari.
Izzy sat down at his desk in front of his laptop. On Izzy's laptop, Kari could see that Izzy had been playing a poker game.
"So, what's all this about?" asked Izzy.
Kari told Izzy and Tentomon about what Gatomon had just told her and asked if it was true. Izzy and Tentomon exchanged looks before Izzy answered.
"Yes, it's true" said Izzy. "you might as well find out now. I'm not sure what causes it, but digimon can indeed eat things that are bigger than themsleves...and anyone that's been to the Digital World can also do this. It might be caused by a virus or it could be just a side effect being in the digital world...I don't know which and neither does any of the digimon"
"We just know that we can" said Tentomon, hovering in mid-air.
"Have you guys been hiding other things that I should know?" asked Kari.
"Like what?" asked Izzy.
"Like, have any of you ever eatensomething that was bigger than you?" asked Kari.
"Well, yes" said Izzy. "I once ate Tentomon when he was MegaKabuterimon" Kari's eyes grew as wide as dinner plates. MegaKabuterimon was one of the biggest digimon that the digidestined had.
"And...why did you do that?" asked Kari.
"We were having an argument" said Tentomon. "Izzy got real mad and just grabbed me and gobbled me down! I must say, his breath was the worse that day!"
"And what happens when you digest someone?" asked Kari.
"They just get re-configured" said Izzy, matter-of-factly, but something in his voice told Kari that Izzy wasn't telling the whole truth.
"Is that all?" asked Kari.
"Yes" said Izzy.
"I know you better than that" said Kari. "you're not telling me something, right? Well, you better tell or I'll might eat you"
"Wouldn't be the first time I was eaten" muttered Izzy.
"Izzy, just tell her" said Tentomon.
"Alright, alright" said Izzy, sighing heavily before continuing. "if you eat someone, digimon or human, you have the choice of either digesting your meal or not. If you choose to digest your meal, you can take that person's extra mass and place it anywhere on your body you want. You can re-configure anyone inside your stomach if you digest a meal"
"Who did you get eaten by?" asked Kari.
"Sora, Mimi and Tentomon" said Izzy.
"I may be a bug" chimed in Tentomon. "but I have good taste"
"Yeah, yeah" said Izzy. "well, I returned the favor"
"Do your parents know about your...abitiliy?" asked Kari.
Izzy paused before answering.
