In an apartment in Tokyo, Kari Kamiya, the owner of the crest of light and partner to Gatomon, looked down at the kitty digimon as she lied on the floor moaning. Normally, seeing her partner in pain would bother Kari and she’d try to help the unfortunate friend, but instead, she just stood there. Her eyebrow twitched in annoyance as Gatomon let out another moan.

“Urp, it’s been too long,” the feline groaned after belching. Trying to get back to her feet, she instead fell back on to her kitty rear end. Kari sighed and stood over the white cat. Her hand came down to the digimon and she poked Gatomon’s pudgy belly.

“What were you thinking when you ate that?” Kari asked, not too gently. Kari had returned from school to find her partner and friend lying next to the kitchen counter. Beside her, an empty plate where last night a huge roast had been sitting, big enough to feed her whole family and still have leftovers. It was quiet obvious that Gatomon ate the huge roast, which although upset was also astonishing. Gatomon wasn’t a big digimon, she was just under three feet tall. The roast had been half her size and from the looks of it, Gatomon had eaten all of it. The cats belly bulged out nearly a foot wide, jiggling with every breath Gatomon took. It was no surprise that the digmon couldn’t get up, but the fact that she ate the whole thing was a bit shocking.

“Sorry, Kari,” Gatomon whined, trying to drag herself up, but falling over again. “I was thinking about my time back in the digital world when I used to eat things bigger then me and when I saw the roast, I had to see if I still had it in me. I guess my bellies a little out of practice.”

“What are you talking about?” Kari asked. The cat digimon never talked about her past, mostly because of the pain she received from Myotismon.

“I thought you knew? We digimon have to eat, and sometimes we eat each other. However, we can’t kill a digimon before we eat it because it turns into pure data and disappears. So, we eat the whole digimon and let t digest in our bellies. Everyone in the digital world can stretch their bodies to do it, I’m surprised you can’t yourself.”

Gatomon chuckled softly. Back in the old days, she was known as the most glutinous digmon in Myotismon’s army. The evil digimon would terrorize his soldiers with the threats of being fed to her. A Tyrannomon hadn’t listened, believing that such a small digimon like her could never fit him inside her tiny belly. He had been proven wrong and it had taken Gatomon a whole week to digest the stupid dinosaur. Looking at her wide stomach, she sighed gloomily. She had lost her gift from lack of practice and now couldn’t eat a fraction of what she used to eat. It made her feel miserable.

“Why would I be able to eat like a digimon?” Kari asked. She was finding more questions then answers from her partner. This little tid bit about digimon being able to eat huge things was coming as a shock to her.

“Because you spent time in the digital world. Anyone with contact to that place usually gains the ability to eat large things,” Gatomon explained. She had heard Myotismon say that the digital world affected everyone with prolonged exposure to it. Causing there bodies to take on new capabilities that were once impossible.

Kari started sputtering. “But I’ve…I never…I mean…. Arg!” With a cry, she stood up and walked to the door. She had never heard about this before and she wanted to know if the other digidestined knew anything. Kari knew that some of them tried to hide things from her, thinking she was too delicate, but after learning about this strange ability, she wanted to learn more.

Leaving the apartment, Gatomon lifted her paw in a futile attempt to get Kari back to help her up. The door slammed behind Kari, leaving Gatomon alone in the apartment. Slumping back onto the floor, Gatomon hugged her big belly.

“Your welcome,” Gatomon grumbled. Kari could of least of help her off the floor before leaving.
