Mahoro made a mental sigh at the sound of someone knocking on the front door. No way did she want to explain why she was thinking about Suguru being a father or how much she had been thinking about the process to make a baby. She’d have to watch her tongue, if it was going to be that dirty from now on.
“I’ll get it,” Mahoro said in a singsong tone. She lumbered towards the door, her sagging gut wobbling as she moved. She was starting to get the hang of moving with her stomach full. The secret was to watch where her gut was going so she didn’t slam her protruding gut into anything, don’t stop too suddenly and also make sure not to lift her legs too high or she’d hit her hanging belly. She reached for the door handle just as Slash opened his muzzle to forewarn Mahoro.
“Wait Mahoro, you’re stomach!” The robotic feline cried out to his partner, but he was too late, Mahoro had already opened the door. He covered his eyes with his paw and laid his head down. If the person at the door were familiar with Mahoro at all, they would be in for quiet a surprise when they see how big her stomach is. Maybe, Mahoro could think fast enough when they inquire about her belly to come up with a plausible lie, like she was on a chocolate diet or that she was pregnant with sextuples.
“Hello,” Mahoro said warmly to whoever was at the door. As she leaned in to greet the visitor, she forgot the first rule, watch where her gut goes. The huge, beanbag like belly thrust forward, hitting the unexpected guest in the chest and sending them reeling back. Mahoro watched in horror as she sent the person falling backwards, landing badly on their rear ends. She rushed to the person’s side, her belly bobbing as she ran. Grabbing her hand, Mahoro was ready to produce a storm of apologizes, but the guest beat her to it.
“I’m sorry,” the visitor timidly said as they got back to their feet on their own. Mahoro stared at the person dusting themselves off in front of her. It was a young girl, maybe Suguru’s age, and very slim, sporting an even small bust then Mahoro’s old pair. She had golden hair cut short around her ears and Mahoro noted that although not beautiful she was a very cute. Strange emotions welled up in Mahoro, like she was meeting a distant relative for the first time. She ignored the emotions, figuring it was from having Suguru inside her.
The girl stared back at Mahoro; her legs were slightly shaky as she took a step to get closer to Mahoro. Slowly she reached out and poked Mahoro’s bulging belly. Having her belly prodded reminded Mahoro of her currant state. She was sporting a huge belly that didn’t match her tiny frame. Mahoro froze up, having no idea what to say, but again, the tiny blond girl spoke up first.
“You’ve eaten someone recently, am I right?”
Mahoro stumbled back, never expecting someone to hit the mark and say it so calmly. She had said it like she was asking about the weather. Words of denial came spewing out of Mahoro’s mouth immediately. “No, no, no, I haven’t eaten anyone. That is completely silly, you’re silly. There is no one in my belly, how could I fit someone inside me in the first place? There is no way that anyone could be inside me, so don’t say that. Next, you’ll say I have Suguru inside me. Hohohohoho!”
Mahoro continued barking out horrendous fake laughter until the girl shyly asked, “Alright, I’m sorry for saying that. Could we please go in right now, there is something I have to talk with you and Mr. Misato in you’re stomach about?”
The girl twiddled her fingers shyly and looked down unable to meet Mahoro’s gaze. Slumping her shoulders in submission, Mahoro gave up trying to come up with excuses and made room for the girl to come in. Slowly, the timid young lady entered the house. Slash had left for the backyard around the time Mahoro started laughing like a hyena, not wanting to see his partner humiliate herself any more.
The girl took a seat on the couch and Mahoro sat beside her. Mahoro leaned her head back and groaned at her own stupidity. She had been asked only one thing when she left VESPER, keep her identity a secret. Sure, she’d told Suguru, but she had willingly told him. Now a stranger knew at least that she had the power to eat people, which was almost as bad as them finding out she was an android. It irked her that this stranger had figured out she could eat people and she wanted to know why she had taken it so calmly.
“Who are you and how do you know about what I can do?” Mahoro asked suspiciously.
Blushing and looking more nervous, which was impressive since she was pretty nervous to begin with, the blond girl that had come knocking introduced herself. “My name is Minawa and I know about what you can do because, well, I’m kind of your sister and I can do it too.”
