Elsewhere...

A young woman with blond hair done in a short ponytail emerged from the cave opening. Her clothes were covered in dried blood, none of it hers. The woman was wearing a tee shirt and pants underneath a red overcoat that had an alchemical symbol on the back of it that marked her as an alchemist. A long silver chain was hooked on her belt that went into a pocket of the pants that identified her as a state alchemist. At the end of the chain was a small pocket watch that was silver in color. This particular pocket watch was different from the pocket watches of other state alchemist: carved on the inner lid of the watch were the letters that read "Remember 7 Oct 1912"

Edna Elric looked around at the grassy plain she found herself in. She didn't recognize the landscape at all. She frowned at looked back at the cave entrance

"Okay....where am I?" asked Edna looking around warily. "am I even in Amestris anymore?"

Edna had been in the labyrinthine hallways that were under Central Command looking for her younger brother, Alfred, who had been last seen there. He, Alfred, had been looking for one of their friends who had been kidnapped two days before. A friend by the name of Jacob Hughes, the eleven-year old son of General Maes Hughes who had been killed by the homunculus known as Envy several months ago. What the enemy would want with the son of a dead man was unknown to Edna.
The blood on Edna's clothes were from the fight with two humanoid crocodile chimeras the female state alchemist had earlier that day. The chimeras were the last guardians of the labyrinthine halls that guarded that Father guy that had apparently lived underneath Central Command. Father was dead, killed earlier in the day that was called "The Day of Promise" by those that had sided with Father (that included a good chunk of the upper brass of the military) along with Edna's immediate commanding officer, Lieutenant General Roy Mustang and his subordinate, Colonel Riza Hawkeye.

Edna walked further into the grassy plain to see that the cave she had exited from had been the entrance to a high rocky mountain. She walked down the comparedly gentle slope that led to the cave down to the grassy plain. Edna was planning on exploring the grassy plain a little before turning back to the cave entrance. There was no need to rush things. Alfred could take care of himself for he was an accomplished alchemist in his own right.

"Who are you?" asked a voice.
Edna turned to see a lamia with reddish hair coming towards her. Edna had seen her fair share of chimeras during her quest for the Philosopher's Stone so seeing a real life lamia before her really wasn't that of a big shock.

"I'm Edna Elric" replied Edna. "I'm a state alchemist. I lost my way somewhere and ended up here... Wherever here is"

"My name is Rasila" replied the lamia. "you must've entered the DCP by accident. It happens sometimes"

Edna looked blankly at Rasila. "The what now?"

"DCP stands for Dimensional Convergence Point" said Rasila. "It's where many dimensions come together and where people from different dimensions can meet up with each other"

"You mean I'm not in my own world anymore?" asked Edna.

Rasila nodded and asked, "Where did you find the DCP on your end?"

"Well, I was in these underground tunnels to look for my brother" said Edna. "I walked down this one tunnel and the tunnel turned into a cave and, before I knew it, I was here"

"What would your brother be doing in underground tunnels?" asked Rasila.

"To look for our friend who was kidnapped two days ago" replied Edna.

"Ah," said Rasila nodding.

"So," said Edna. "did you come from another dimension as well?"

"No, I was born here in this dimension" said Rasila.

Edna was about to ask a question when movement caught her eye in the corner of her eye. She turned to see someone emerging from the cave she had from emerged earlier. It was a young boy with dirty blond hair.

"Jacob!" cried Edna, waving a hand.

Jacob turned to the voice calling his name and his face lit up. "Edna! It's so good to see you"

"You know him?" asked Rasila.

"He's the friend that was kidnapped" said Edna.

Jacob made his way towards Edna and Rasila with a big smile on his face.

************

"That's quite a story" said Thalerazla after Edward had explained where he and the others had come from.

"Yeah" said Riza. "I wasn't expecting to go dimension hoping"

"People wander into DCP's all the time" said Silas. "Back in my old dimension, I heard a lot of reports of people missing"

"People go missing for other reasons" said Thalerazla.

"Anyway, we figure that the DCP here will send us back to our dimension" said Edward.

"It just might" said Thalerazla.

"Might?" asked Mii.

"Not all DCPs are connected to every dimension" said Thalerazla. "there's just too many dimensions out there to connect with just one DCP"

"Just how many dimensions are there?" asked Edward.

Mii snorted. "That's like asking how many grains of sand are in a desert or how many stars there are in space"

"There are that many?!" asked Riza.

"Yes" said Thalerazla. "all with different timelines and different events from the ones that happened in your world"

"Meaning that there could be a dimension where my mom is still alive?" asked Edward.

"Anything is possible" said Thalerazla, shrugging.

"Shouldn't we be heading back, my goddess?" asked Silas.

"Ah, yes" replied Thalerazla. "I left my daughter guarding my lair while I was down here hunting. I should go back soon"

"We should go back to our friends as well" said Riza. "I just came here to look for my dog"

Black Hayate yipped at Riza's legs.

"Well," said Thalerazla. "I'm sure we'll meet again if you are really planning on using the DCP here"
