With a great burden lifted, Naruto began heading to the Hokage's tower, the most likely place where Sakura and Kakashi would be waiting for him. Then he would fill them in on the whole story involving the stolen documents, and his heroism in keeping a spy from stealing valuable secrets. Shikimaru goes to jail, Naruto gets a LONG overdue promotion, and most important, no one finds out exactly HOW the issues were taking care of. Everything would work out, and he wouldn't need to be burdened with the stigma of being a genin anymore, not to mention being hailed for solving a major problem instead of causing one.
"Oof!"
As was often the case, fantasies of grandeur and acceptance kept Naruto from seeing three feet in front of him. Without warning, he and another found themselves both on the ground, rubbing their heads from the sudden impact.
"Ow...hey, you really..."
Opening his eyes for a moment, Naruto noticed exactly who he had ran into. Tenten of all people, the girl he had almost eaten in a blind panic of craving and desire.
"This is the second time you bump into me in two days!" the slightly annoyed weapons mistress shouted.
"Yeah, about that," Naruto answered, fumbling for an excuse, "I actually wanted to talk to you about yesterday."
"What about it?" she flatly asked.
"I really was looking for someone else. You see, I had missed something important, some paperwork and I thought that you had it. Or you know, the person who I thought was you."
"You're telling me that you bumped into me just to say you were sorry?" she asked him, the cynicism in her voice dulled significantly.
"Well, yeah."
As Naruto said this, two things happened. The first was a slight rumbling from his stomach, unheard by the woman he was speaking to, emerged, tickling at his insides. What it meant was simple, for the second he look straight at the kunochi, his mouth began to slightly water.
It's back was all he could think of. Apparently eating Temari wasn't enough. Would this be constant? What could he possibly do?
The second, before he could ponder the moral and physical consequences of what he felt, was from his assumed meal, a smile. "Thank you. You didn't have to go and do that."
"Yeah," Naruto answered, shaking his head as he thought of how to best weasel himself out of this dillema. "I know."
