Wasting time with a bunch of second-tier stalkers wasn't Naruto's style. He wasn't going to kill them, and they presented no threat, so why even waste time? With that thought he ran through the streets, watching as kunai missed at considerable distance.
"Later!" he shouted.

"Madame Hokage?"
"Yes?"
"Several of the ANBU have left their posts. We don't know where they are. Also, it appears there are more people out in the streets at this time. Current estimates run at about 25 non-authorized personnel."
"Keep me informed."
"Yes madame."
None of this made sense. They weren't under attack, if they were, there would be a lot more explosions and assassinations. Key strategic targets wouldn't have been left alone. And others would be dead besides Anko.
The key to this all was Sakura. She was the one person caught at the crime scene, but compared to the rational student of hers who was prone to fits of anger, this Sakura was a screaming wreck, talking about "him," and a hunger. No names were mentioned, which made it all the more puzzling.
The most disturbing part of the interrogation was near the end, Sakura's final words before she had to be restrained by the ANBU.
You...you have the hunger too. When you see him, it will drive you mad, consume you until you consume him. It's not my fault, honestly! It's...forcing me!
"Granny Tsunade?"
The sound of the voice was unmistakable. The brat genin who kept making fun of her age. Turning around, she went to say hello. Maybe he knew what was going on.
