The next morning, you woke up groggy and disoriented, your body feeling oddly compressed and warm. The first thing you noticed was the faint, familiar scent of Hermione’s skin, mixed with a lingering trace of sweat from the previous day. As your senses sharpened, you realized with growing alarm that your head was wedged snugly between her toes, her foot entirely encompassing your diminished frame.
You froze, your heart pounding in your chest. What happened to me? you thought, panic beginning to rise. The sock that had been snug but manageable the night before now felt like a massive, constricting cocoon around you. Hermione’s foot, once merely large in comparison, now seemed enormous—your body barely matched its length.
You wriggled instinctively, trying to free yourself, but the movement only caused Hermione’s toes to curl slightly, pressing your head more firmly into the soft, warm space between them. The pressure wasn’t painful, but it was humiliating—and a stark reminder of how drastically your condition had worsened overnight.
"Good morning, Harry," Hermione’s voice came, groggy but cheerful, from above. Her tone carried no hint of surprise or alarm, as if waking up with her best friend tucked between her toes was perfectly normal.
"H-Hermione!" you stammered, your voice muffled by the sock and the proximity to her skin. "I… I’ve shrunk again!"
She yawned and stretched, flexing her toes in the process. You felt the movement ripple through your entire body, leaving you more acutely aware of just how small you had become. "Oh dear," she said calmly, sitting up in bed and pulling back the covers. "It seems you have. Let’s take a look."
Hermione reached down, carefully peeling off the sock and freeing her foot—and you—from its confines. As the cool air hit your skin, you craned your neck to look up at her, your heart sinking as you realized just how much larger she appeared now. Sitting cross-legged on the bed, she loomed over you like a giant, her expression equal parts concerned and curious.
"Wow," she murmured, her eyes scanning your tiny form. "You’re about the same size as my foot now. Maybe a little smaller."
You groaned, burying your face in your hands. "This is a nightmare," you muttered.
Hermione, ever the pragmatist, didn’t seem fazed. Instead, she gently scooped you up, holding you in her hands as she examined you more closely. "Well," she said thoughtfully, "this does change things a bit. But it’s nothing we can’t handle."
"Hermione, this is insane!" you said, your voice tinged with desperation. "I can’t keep shrinking like this. What if—what if I disappear completely?"
She frowned slightly, her brow furrowing in thought. "We’ll figure something out, Harry. Dumbledore’s working on it, and so am I. In the meantime, we’ll just have to adjust to your new size."
"Adjust?" you repeated, incredulous.
She smiled faintly, her calm demeanor somehow both reassuring and infuriating. "Yes, adjust. For now, let’s focus on keeping you safe and comfortable. And since you’re already down there…" She trailed off, her smile taking on a playful edge as she shifted her foot slightly, her toes brushing against your side.
"Hermione, no," you said quickly, already dreading whatever she was about to suggest.
"Harry," she said, her tone patient but firm, "you need to get used to this. It’s important for you to adapt, and I think continuing your conditioning is the best way forward. Besides," she added with a teasing grin, "you seemed to handle it pretty well yesterday."
You groaned, your cheeks burning with embarrassment as she lowered you back down, her foot once again looming over you. As she settled into her morning routine, you couldn’t help but wonder if this bizarre arrangement was truly for your own good—or if Hermione was starting to enjoy it just a little too much.
