The champion of the arena on Sakaar rarely fought. The only time a champion did fight was when their title as champion was on the line. The champion was given carte blanche to do anything that he (or she) wanted to do without the fear of being punished for it as long as The Grandmaster approved. The champion, for example, could go out in the streets of the city of Sakaar or even out of the city itself. The champion tended to attract a lot of attention when out in public and Gwen Stacy was no exception.
Gwen was a celebrity on Sakaar; some would dare say a god with how popular she was. Gwen could hardly go out in public without getting mobbed wherever she went. Gwen's face adorned both crudely-made signs and the sides of buildings. It was well-known that Gwen had been infected with Venom. Gwen and Venom's face were known everywhere on Sakaar.
It didn't take Gwen that long to find those little-known routes that every city had.
Within two weeks of becoming champion, Gwen had gone out to explore the city of Sakaar and the surrounding area. The layout of the city was pretty much like New York although it was free of any outstanding landmarks. City life was surprisingly well-ordered and filled with decent (more or less) people and aliens of all kinds. The currency of Sakaar was all the junk that came from elsewhere. There were some areas of the city that were dangerous than others and there were very little crime. All disputes were ended quickly thanks to the city guards who were all armed to the teeth as a rule.
Gwen hardly ever walked on the streets, not wanting to be constantly mobbed on the street. Gwen was always on the lookout for an isolated ship to escape the planet but no dice.

Gwen was outside the city. She was a good ten miles from the city in what was called The Toxic Plains where there was an abundance of toxic waste from various planets. The very air of the Toxic Plains was very inhospitable. Gwen stayed away from the more toxic part.
"Are you absolutely sure your friend lives all the way out here?" asked Gwen to Xacandar who was riding on Gwen's shoulder much to the annoyance of Venom.
"I never said that Sullivan was a friend" said Xacandar. "he's just good as back-up and, baby, you need some back-up out here"
"Don't call me baby" muttered Gwen.
Gwen was making her way between two huge piles of junk. The piles of junk were maybe forty feet tall that looked more like hills than anything else. There was a path between the huge piles of junk mostly free of trash.
"So," said Xacandar. "you invited your friend to your dimension only to have him shrink down to ten inches tall?"
"Well, how was I supposed to know that would happen to him?" asked Gwen. "he was kinda cute at that size actually..."
"I thought you said you didn't do the friend thing" said Xacandar. "that you like to be a loner"
"Yeah, well...that tends to happen when you fail to save one of your friends since childhood" said Gwen.
A noise caught the attention of them all. It was the unmistakable sound of a low-flying ship approaching. It took Gwen moments to determine that the noise was coming from somewhere to the west. She got into a defensive stance.
A ship came over the horizon. Although calling such a thing a ship would insult the very idea of ships; it was a long cigar-shaped ship with hulls from over a dozen other ships. It was an ugly thing that didn't look to be space worthy. The ship had an open section that revealed a kind of bay that held at least twenty people in it. A moment later, an identical ship came from the other direction.
Both ships landed on a flat area just beyond the two piles of junk. When the two ships landed some forty people jumped off the ships. All were dressed in a hodgepodge of robes, uniforms, masks and the like. Nearly all of them were wearing war paint. A few of them had makeshift weapons in their hands.
"Hey fellas" said Gwen as most of the people were males. The forty people circled around Gwen blocking off her escape.
"We've caught ourselves a rare find here, boys" said the tallest man there wearing orange robes.
"Don't you idiots know who I am?" asked Gwen.
"They're scavengers" replied Xacandar. "I doubt they know the days of the week"
"Gwen!" warned Venom. Gwen was in time to yank a net that had been fired from a wild looking female with red skin. Gwen had used her webs -- or rather, Venom's webs -- on the net pushing it away from her.
"You're up, big girl" said Gwen.
Venom grew its face over Gwen's face and Gwen leapt at the nearest scavenger and biting off her head in the process. Xacandar had leapt from Gwen's shoulder and had vanished in the junk pile somewhere. Gwen moved with a great deal of grace, dodging all attacks that were aimed at her.
"You idiots!" came a feminine voice from somewhere to the right. The voice came from a seven foot tall green-skinned woman that had appeared from nowhere. The woman were bursting with muscle from head to foot.
"Jennifer!" exclaimed Gwen in recognition.
Jennifer Walters, AKA She-Hulk, did a double-take at Gwen hardly recognizing her thanks to her body being covered up by Venom. Jennifer went right up to the guy in the orange robe and tossed him away like he was a bag of flour.
"It's the Green Goddess!" shouted several of the scavengers and promptly running away without a second thought. Venom leapt onto several of the scavengers, eating them whole.
"You're the Green Goddess?" asked Gwen to Jennifer.
"That's what they call me" replied Jennifer as she threw another scavenger out of sight. "you eat people now, Gwen?"
"Long story" replied Gwen over her shoulder. "well, actually, no...it really isn't. Let's just talk after we deal with these guys"
Gwen had heard whisperings about the Green Goddess ever since she had been on Sakaar. Apparently a month before Gwen had arrived on the planet, the Green Goddess had escaped from the arena along with others. The Green Goddess posted up a lot of anti-Grandmaster propaganda all over the city of Sakaar. The propaganda promised to overthrow the Grandmaster and all that followed him.
The last of the scavengers were driven off. Gwen had eaten seven of the scavengers.
"Jennifer," said Gwen. "I'm assuming you got here the same way I did?"
Jennifer nodded. "I was picked up by that blue meanie but I managed to escape the arena. Ever since then I've joined a resistance that plans to overthrow the Grandmaster. We call ourselves The Warbound"
