"Nice to meet you; let's go get you set up," she says in a casual tone, which relieves Tod. He was afraid she would be annoyed or excited or just weird about his condition overall, but she seems to be pretty normal around him. Even compared to people who have known him for years, they walk past a wall of cat and dog kennels. While some of them are here, most are in the neighboring humane center, where they keep the cats and dogs, which is up there in Tod's worst nightmares.
After passing the admittedly adorable cats and dogs, Tod gets taken to the rest. First are the invertebrates: the tarantulas, scorpions, mantises, beetles, and more. Some would find it freaky, but Tod, well, he isn't in love with them, but he still finds them neat. Next are reptiles and amphibians: bullfrogs, monitors, geckos, pythons, turtles, and so many other silly reptiles. Some of them can be risky to be near, but Tod can handle it; he hopes. Third, the fish: goldfish, minnows, catfish, stingray, and more; these guys can also be threats, especially the large koi pond in the middle of the store. Lastly are the mammals and birds: rabbits, rats, guinea pigs, parrots, and finches; these guys are typically more annoying than tedious, but Tod has handled worse.
Overall, as long as Tod can avoid the dogs, cats, and any annoying shoppers. After getting walked, Tod is put up to his first task. What is that?
