You felt as though you were being treated like a pet or a baby. You couldn't let her treat you like that and started to ask the reasonable questions.

"Ma'am, please," you begged.

"Where am I? Why am I in a bird cage? I did nothing wrong to you."

You begged on both of your knees, wanting to be free from your prison and to go back to your family. The woman in front of you could only smile at your predicament and explained the situation to you.

"Listen sweetie," the woman assured. "First off, you are at my fancy apartment in New York. Here I'll show you."

She grabbed the bird cage you were in and walked to a window. Once the bird cage had come to a stop, you looked in awe as you saw a vast sea of buildings realizing that you were very high up in the building you were in. "Beautiful, isn't it?," the woman admired as she brought you back to the place you were at last time.

"Now, as for why you are in a bird cage, that's because you needed a safe space where nothing can hurt you. Trust me, it's better than being in a jar where there is little to no space."

You had two questions that were answered but not one as to why she took you with her. "But why did you take me?," you asked. "I did nothing wrong to you. I simply needed help."

"Exactly. You did do nothing wrong and you needed help." The woman sighed as she went to grab the TV remote. "Here. I'll show you."

The woman turned the TV on with the news channel being the first thing to show up and two news anchors explaining. "Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to ABC News with the first wide coverage of the most recent events that's startling the world." "Indeed it is, Phil. It's pretty hard to really explain how it happened but from the information that we have received from many sources, the world's population is shrinking. And that's not a metaphor, we mean that literally. Many people around the world are experiencing seeing others around them suddenly shrinking down. They appear small but not impossible to see and pick up. There were some that were able to see with their own eyes what happened to them and quickly picked them to make sure they were safe. Others, however, are not noticing, leaving the ones shrunken down at the mercy of insects, animals, or even more dangerous, ourselves." "It really is dangerous out there, Kathy. We were able to speak with a couple of victims that were affected by this. We are going live to them right now."

"Me and my girlfriend, we were just eating next to each other," the victim said, tearing up as he explained what happened next. "And when she looked at her phone, I shrunk and I landed on our food. She put it down and noticed I wasn't there so she assumed I went to the restroom. She picked up her food with a spoon, and I was on her spoon. And I was close to being eaten by her. If I didn't flail my arms around or yell at the top of my lungs, I would have been eaten by her."

"My son was playing in the grass area and I was laying down with a blanket underneath," the mother's victim said. "He came over to me to get my attention, because my eyes were closed, and he shrunk. He said that as he shrunk, he fell towards me and landed on my... um... my chest area. I only felt wriggling on my chest and assumed it was a bug. I caught the bug and prepared to squish it with my fingers. But I'm happy I didn't because I heard small yelling and realized it was my son."

"As of right now, the ones that are shrunken down are being found and are reunited with their friends or family," said Kathy. "Others are being found but with no family or friends in sight of them. The police departments from different states and countries are holding on to them and putting out missing people information to better help reunite them with their loved ones and so far, some are going home with their hearts filled with hope again."

"Thank you, Kathy," said Phil. "We do not have an estimated number of how many people have been shrunken down but we will continue to update you with more information on our new station. This is a developing situation..."

The woman turned off the TV and turned her attention towards you again. "Sweetie, I do care about you. And I really mean it when I want to help you. How far away are we from your family?"

"Pretty far away since we are in New York," you said. "My family is on the other side of the country. I just don't believe it. Everyone is shrinking down across the world."

"I know this isn't what you want to hear, but you are going to stay here with me. I may be rich but I can't exactly fly there right now because of everything that is happening. And when things settle down, I dont intend on going to California anytime soon until next year for vacation; if the airport is back in service at that time."

"But my family..."

"What is your mother's number? I will call them to tell them that you are safe and sound and have every intention of giving you back to them."

"Really?! Thank you." You give the woman your mother's name and phone number.

"You're welcome, sweetie. I'll call them right now," she said, as she was dialing the number right now and left to another room. But before she left, she turned to you again. "And by the way, my name is Nicole." After that, she left and closed the door.

You don't know how to feel about this. Many people are being shrunken down with no reason at all. Some are being found and some are not. And the fact that some have dodged death is sheer luck. You can't imagine being almost eaten, trapped between a woman's breast, or even... in her panties. You wouldn't know what to think if that happened to you. Scared. Happy. Aroused. The only good thing to come out of this, you suppose, is finally finding out the woman's name is Nicole. But you wondered why that name sounded familiar to you. Was she a neighbor that left a while back? One of your mother's friends? You couldn't figure it out. But after having some time with your thoughts for about ten minutes, Nicole opened the door and walked to the bird cage you were in to talk to you about what happened.

"Nicole, what did my mom say?"

"Well, I told your mother that you crawled into my purse and that was when I found you and decided to take you home with me. Sh-"

"Even though you were SOOO happy to keep me forever as your pet or something when I lost to your stupid game." you interrupt her, angrily

"Yes, I am sorry. I only wanted to have a pet but I didn't try to understand your feelings at all (and the actual situation makes me understand more your problem). But I will do my best to help you now, you can believe me. Sorry if I scared you."

"Okay, I will try to forgive you but I make a big effort: I really disliked how you handled me." you answer slightly less angry "So, what were you saying?"

"Oh yes. As I said, your mother knows you are safe and she is relieved. She also told me that your name is Steve. Not sure if you were ever going to tell me, so..."

"I'm sorry."

"Anyways, she knows that the planes are shut down because of everything that's happening. But there is another problem."

"What's wrong?"

"She said your sister shrunk as well. She's okay. Your mother saw her immediately and made sure she was safe. As of right now, she needs to take care of her since she is top priority and because you are twenty years old, she said it's up to you on how you want to handle this."

"Uh... I guess... thanks."

"Look, I can take care of you. But it would be up to me on how I take care of you. Or I can put you in a box, mark it as fragile, and send you back to California to your mom."

Do you want to stay with Nicole or be sent back to your mom?
