Tiny Terry

"You're a weird piece of popcorn," Liz whispered, her voice dripping with contempt. "You pervert."
Terry couldn't breathe. He couldn't think. The redhead's fingers were wrapped around his entire body, squeezing just tight enough to hold him in place without crushing him. Her skin was warm and slightly sweaty, and he could smell her perfume so strongly now that it was almost overwhelming. Her face loomed above him like a moon, her features sharp and beautiful and furious. Her lips were painted a dark glossy red, the same color as her nails, and they were pulled into a sneer that made her look like she wanted to kill him.
Because she did. She definitely wanted to kill him.
"I don't know how you got in there," Liz continued, her voice barely audible over the movie. "But I know a pervert when I see one. You snuck into my tits on purpose, didn't you? You little freak."
Terry shook his head frantically. His mouth opened and closed but no sound came out. What could he even say? Sorry I got launched into your cleavage by my screaming sister? Sorry I'm tiny and helpless and currently being held like a piece of garbage? But somehow, looking at her furious expression, he knew it was hopeless.
Liz brought him closer to her face. Her breath washed over him, warm and sweet, and he could see every detail of her lips now. The way the gloss caught the light. The little lines where her lipstick had bled just slightly at the edges. She was so beautiful. She was also terrifying.
Her tongue darted out, wetting her lips, and Terry's entire body went cold.
"You know what I do with tiny perverts like you?" Liz whispered.
She opened her mouth wide. Her lips stretched apart, revealing teeth that were white and straight and sharp. The inside of her mouth, lit by the movie, was lit, then dark, then lit again, like a strobe light. Her wide, smooth tongue sat at the bottom, pink and wet, glistening with saliva. Drool pooled at the back of her throat, thick and shiny, and Terry could see the dark cavern beyond, the soft curve of her palate, the little dangling uvula at the back, dripping thin strands of saliva as she breathed. Her mouth was a cave. A wet, warm, hungry cave that could fit hundreds of him inside.
Liz brought him closer. Her breath was hot on his face, humid and smelling faintly of soda. The saliva at the back of her throat rippled as she swallowed, and Terry watched her throat move, watched the muscles contract, and he understood exactly what she was thinking.
She could crunch him like a bug. She could grind him between her teeth and swallow him in pieces and no one would ever know. He was that small. He was that powerless. One bite and he would be gone, just a wet crunch, a swallow, and then... nothing.
"Please," Terry whispered. His voice was so small. So pathetic. He couldn't even hear himself.
Liz's lips curved into a smile around her open mouth. Her teeth gleamed. Her tongue twitched.
"Please what?" she murmured. "Please eat you? Please crunch you up like the little bug you are? Is that what you want, pervert?"
She moved him even closer. The heat radiating from her mouth increased. He was so close that a droplet of saliva fell from her tongue and splashed against his chest, warm and wet and absolutely horrifying.
"I bet you do," Liz continued, her eyes glittering with cruel amusement. "I bet you tiny perverts get off on this. Sneaking into girls' bras. You probably came on mine as I was squishing them around. It's probably the most action you've ever gotten. Is getting eaten part of the plan too? Little freak."
She closed her mouth into a taunting smoochy face. Her lips brushed against Terry's legs. They were soft and wet and they left a smear of gloss on his skin.
Then she opened her mouth again. Wider this time. Wider than before. Her jaw stretched and Terry could see everything, every ridge of her palate, every tooth, the dark wet tunnel of her throat that led down to her stomach. She was going to do it. She was actually going to throw him in her mouth and chew him up and swallow him and he was going to die inside a stranger's digestive system.
Hazel, meanwhile, had finally unfrozen.
She had watched the whole thing - she had watched the redhead pull Terry out of her cleavage, talk to him about something she couldn’t hear, and open her mouth wide like a predator. Was she actually going to eat him? Her doubts vanished as the redhead tilted her head up, dangled her tongue out, and lifted Terry above the oral abyss...
"NO!"
The scream ripped out of Hazel's throat before she could stop it. She lunged out of her seat, her body moving on pure instinct, and grabbed the redhead's arm with both hands. Her fingers dug into the woman's bicep, squeezing hard, and she yanked with all her strength.
"GIVE ME MY BROTHER BACK!"
The theater went silent. But every single person in that theater had turned to look at Hazel. They were all staring at the blonde girl in the pink skirt who was currently attached to the redhead's arm like a screaming barnacle.
Liz's eyes went wide. Her mouth snapped shut. She turned her head to look at Hazel, her expression shifting from cruel amusement to genuine shock.
"What the fuck?" she said.
"My brother!" Hazel's voice cracked. Tears were streaming down her cheeks, ruining her mascara, leaving black tracks on her pink cheeks. "You were going to eat my brother! He's in your hand! Give him back right now!"
Liz looked down at her hand. At the tiny figure still pinched between her fingers. Then she looked back at Hazel. Her brow furrowed. Her lips parted.
"This is... Your brother?" she said, uncertain.
"Yes! He's my little brother and you were going to EAT HIM!" Hazel sobbed. Her grip on Liz's arm tightened. "Give him back! Give him back right now or I'll scream so loud the whole mall hears! I'll call the cops! I'll tell everyone you're a cannibal!"
The other theater patrons were murmuring now. Whispering. Pointing. A few of them had pulled out their phones and were recording. Liz's face flushed red, the same color as her hair, and she looked around at the audience with a mixture of embarrassment and panic.
"I - I wasn't going to eat him," she hissed. "I was just... I was messing around. It was a joke."
"It wasn't a joke! You almost had him in your MOUTH!" Hazel was seeing red. "You licked him! I saw you lick him! You're disgusting! Give him back!"
Liz's hand trembled. She looked at Terry, still pinched between her fingers, and Terry looked back at her with wide terrified eyes. He was buttery. His hair was a mess. He looked exactly like what he was, a tiny victim who had almost been eaten alive.
"Ugh. Fine," Liz muttered. "Fine. Take your weird little brother. Tell him to stop perving around."
She held him out and opened her fingers. He fell through the air, weightless and spinning, and then he landed in Hazel's palm. Hazel let go of Liz and closed her hands around Terry immediately, cradling him against her chest, and she collapsed back into her seat with a sob of relief.
"You're okay," she whispered, stroking his back with one finger. "You're okay, Terry. I've got you. I've got you. (。♡‿♡。)"
Liz stood up. Her chair flipped back with a loud thunk. She grabbed her purse and her soda and started pushing her way past the other patrons toward the exit, her face burning red, her ponytail swinging behind her.
"Freaks," she muttered as she walked.
The theater employee was coming up the aisle, towards Hazel. He was a teenager, maybe 17, with acne and a too-big uniform and an expression of absolute annoyance. He held up his hand as Hazel approached, and flashed a way-too-bright flashlight right at them.
"Ma'am, I'm going to have to ask you to leave," he said. "You’re making a scene."
Hazel's bottom lip trembled. She looked down at Terry, still cupped in her hands, and then back at the employee. Her cheeks were wet. Her eyes were red. She looked like a sad little doll who had been left out in the rain.
"I'm sorry," she whispered. "I didn't mean to cause trouble. She was going to eat my brother."
The employee glanced at Terry. His expression didn't change.
"Uh, okay. I'm still going to have to ask you to leave," he repeated. "Please gather your belongings and exit the theater."
Hazel nodded. She picked up her purse and her phone, leaving the empty popcorn bucket behind, and followed the employee out of the theater. The doors swung shut behind her, cutting off the sound of the credits music, and suddenly the hallway was quiet.
They walked in silence. Past the concession stand, where a girl in a red vest was wiping down the counter. Past the ticket booth, where another teenager was scrolling through his phone.
Hazel stepped back into the mall, blinking in the sudden brightness. She walked to a nearby bench. A wooden bench, painted green, with a garbage can next to it and a tall bushy plant in a pot. Hazel sat down, still cradling Terry in her hands, and sobbed lightly.
"I'm sorry," she whispered. "I'm so sorry, Terry. I should have said something sooner. I should have grabbed you right away. I was just so scared and she was so mean and I didn't know what to do. (╥﹏╥)"
Terry lay in her palms, catching his breath. His body ached from being squeezed. His skin was sticky with saliva and butter and sweat. But he was alive. He was alive and he was out of that woman's mouth... And he was never going to the movies with Hazel ever again.
"It's okay," he said, reassuring her. "I'm okay."
Hazel sniffled. She looked down at him with watery eyes, her mascara completely ruined, her cheeks blotchy and red.
"You're not just okay," she said. "You're alive. She almost ate you, Terry. She put you in her MOUTH."
"I know."
"Her tongue touched you! I saw it!" Hazel shuddered. "That's so gross. That's so disgusting. I can't believe she did that. What kind of person puts a tiny person in their mouth?"
Terry didn’t want to broach the irony of what she just said. Hazel put him in her mouth all the time. But, she wasn’t trying to chew him up or digest him. So Terry said nothing. Instead, he just lay there, staring up at the skylights past his sister’s enormous face.
Hazel pulled him closer to her face. Her breath washed over him, warm and gentle, completely different from the redhead's hot hungry breath. She pressed a kiss to the top of his head, her lips soft and careful, and then she held him against her cheek.
"I'm never letting you go again," she whispered. "Never ever ever. You're staying with me forever. I'm going to keep you in my pocket and I'm never going to let anyone put you in their mouth ever again. (。•́︿•̀。)"
"Hazel, that's not realistic. You can’t protect me forever."
"I don't care! You're my brother and I love you and I'm going to protect you!" She sniffled. "Mom's going to be so mad when she finds out about this."
Terry groaned. He hadn't even thought about Jenna yet. His mom was going to lose her mind when she heard what happened. She was going to wrap him in cotton balls and lock him in a jewelry box and never let him leave the house again.
"Maybe we don't tell her," Terry said carefully.
"Not tell her? Terry, she almost ATE you!"
"And nothing happened. I'm fine. We can just... not mention the mouth part."
Hazel's eyes went wide. "You want me to lie to Mom?"
"I want you to protect me from her overreacting," Terry said. "You know how she gets. She'll never let me go anywhere ever again."
Hazel bit her lip. She looked conflicted, her brow furrowed, her mouth pulled into a little frown.
"Okay," she said finally. "Okay, fine. But we're not going to lie. We're just going to... omit some details."
"Fine. Let's leave out the part about me almost getting eaten. And, uh, let's leave out the cleavage part too."
"But that's the funniest part!" Hazel said, laughing, and finally smiling again.
Terry snorted. "Okay, fine. We can tell her that I got to second base with a hot redhead."
"We're not telling her that. You weirdo," Hazel said. She held him up to her face again, her eyes soft and warm, and she pressed another kiss to his head. Her lips lingered this time, soft and gentle, and when she pulled back there was a pink lipstick mark on his face.
"There," she said. "All better."
"Thanks," he said quietly.
Hazel beamed. Her whole face lit up, the tears still drying on her cheeks, her eyes still red and puffy. She looked like a mess. She looked like the most beautiful person in the world.
"Of course, silly," she said. "You're my favorite person. I'd do anything for you. (。♡‿♡。)"
Finally, Hazel took a deep breath and stood up.
"So," she said, pulling out her phone and checking the time. "We have a few hours before Mom expects us back. What do you want to do?"
